What you’ll do:
Work as part of the Data Science and Analytics leadership team and focus on the successful deployment of data capabilities, models and tools that can support the entire team’s needs.
Be the primary point of contact for Engineering and Data Product Development in giving feedback and assistance on new products or procedures
Oversee and create detailed specifications including business rules, data flows, data models, and analytical use cases then educate, influence and enforce best practices on all aspects of the data lifecycle to adhere to those standards
Partner with Data Engineering leadership to ensure data is available, reliable, consistent, accessible, secure, and timely to support the mission and operating cadence of the enterprise and to align and standardize data models
Architect and design solutions for data quality and reporting that recognizes the fast moving and iterative nature of the business, particularly focused on data pipeline efficiency and maintenance for last mile ETL work, particularly around BQ and Airflow
Lead data definition and data management work sessions with business and Analytics leads to develop common measures, dimensions, and attributes; drive alignment with to facilitate ease-of-use and self-service analytics around critical KPIs
Build analytics solutions to help data adoption or increase efficiency, then managing administrative access and support to tools created by the team
Build tools (runbooks, schedulers, notebooks, dashboards, etc..) that enable us to scale data quality understanding and measurement, making it highly efficient to scale out data quality analysis across the org
Responsible for new data science tooling and methodology integration into existing tools
Help define and drive development of an aggressive technical roadmap to meet the needs of the Data team
Oversee data scientists who specialize in operating system performance and quality of service KPIs
Knowledge Skills, Abilities
Strong understanding of data and information architecture, including experience with unstructured data, big data environments, relational databases, streaming and batch data processing
Strong data modeling and technical skills
Capability to think strategically, balancing a broad range of internal and external factors when identifying problems, proposing solutions, and making decisions
Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills with ability to facilitate technology requirements with all stakeholders (management, business users, and technology resources)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, and computer science, or equivalent years of experience
10+ years of industry experience working in one or more of the following fields: data engineering, data architecture, software development, or operations engineering
Experience managing data science or engineering teams
Experience working with SQL (Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Hive, etc.) and relational databases (Oracle, MySQL)
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in a quantitative field
SQL (Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Hive, etc.) experience and relational databases experience (Oracle, MySQL)
Experience in Big Data stack environments (AWS, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, etc.)
Java and/or Python development experience
Demonstrated experience leading complex, strategic, and operational initiatives
Hands on experience with multiple data technologies and processes such as data architecture, data integration, data modeling, MDM and data quality
Experience working with virtual and global cross-functional teams
