Position Details and Responsibilities

Skyepoint Decisions is seeking a Systems Engineer with a strong background in SolarWinds to support the Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective, and secure business processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network monitoring solutions, ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our IT infrastructure.   

 

This position will work a rotating hybrid schedule in Beltsville, MD. WEEK 1 - 2 days onsite, 3 days remote WEEK 2 - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.

  

In this role, you will be responsible for:    

 

SolarWinds Implementation and Management:  

  • Lead the design and implementation of SolarWinds solutions to monitor and manage network performance, availability, and security. 
  • Configure and customize SolarWinds modules to align with organizational requirements. 

Performance Monitoring and Analysis: 

  • Utilize SolarWinds tools to monitor and analyze network performance, identify trends, and proactively address issues. 
  • Optimize SolarWinds configurations to ensure efficient use of network resources. 

Incident Response and Troubleshooting: 

  • Respond to SolarWinds alerts promptly, investigating and resolving network incidents. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and mitigate SolarWinds-related issues. 

Security and Compliance: 

  • Implement and enforce security best practices for SolarWinds, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of network data. 
  • Ensure SolarWinds configurations comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements. 

Documentation and Reporting: 

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to SolarWinds configurations, processes, and procedures. 
  • Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and SolarWinds utilization for management review. 

Training and Knowledge Sharing: 

  • Provide training and support to IT staff on SolarWinds usage and best practices. 
  • Share expertise with team members, promoting knowledge exchange and skill development. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 9 years of overall years with a Bachelors degree; 7 years with Masters; 4  years with PhD. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.  
  • U.S. citizenship and an interim Secret to start and ability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.  
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule.
  • SolarWinds experience: a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator with a specialization in SolarWinds. 
  • In-depth knowledge of SolarWinds platform, modules, and best practices. 
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, architecture, and security. 
  • Experience in incident response, troubleshooting, and network optimization. 
  • Familiarity with industry compliance standards and regulations. 
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Demonstrated effective communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Possess one of the following certifications or the ability to achieve one prior to start:
    • CASP+ CE; CCNA Cyber Ops; CCNA-Security; CCNP Security; CEH; CFR; CISA; CISSP (or Associate); Cloud+; CySA+; GCED; GCIA; GCIH; GICSP; SCYBER; VCA DCV 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SolarWinds certification (SolarWinds Certified Professional - SCP or equivalent). 
  • Previous experience in designing and implementing complex SolarWinds solutions. 
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for SolarWinds automation.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $122,000 - $149,000

The SkyePoint Decisions salary range for this position is a general guideline only. It represents an estimated range for this position and is just one piece of our total compensation package. 

Salary at SkyePoint is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work schedule, the candidate’s combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, market data and business considerations.
