Job Description: 

As an Associate People Business Partner, you will be responsible for working with various business departments within Skillz to identify and execute process improvements, manage employee relations matters, remove employee barriers, and promote employee performance/engagement/retention.

What You Will Do:

  • Partner with leaders to develop and deliver the People team’s initiatives - supporting driving business results and an exceptional employee experience.
  • Understand the specific business and talent needs of the organization to propose and execute people initiatives that align with business needs.
  • Consult with leaders and teams to enhance their team members’ performance and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Work with People leadership to implement systems and processes to drive continuous learning and knowledge-sharing across the organization through the lens of growth and scale.
  • Support the implementation of People initiatives, within a specific business unit - including but not limited to: talent reviews, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement and retention; leadership and people development; diversity & inclusion; and culture, workplace and employee experience.
  • Continuously think about our customers, team members and business to foster an environment of accountability for driving results.

Your Skillz:

  • At least 1-3 years of experience in an HR role (business partnerships, employee relations, talent management, learning and development, recruiting, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Familiarity with employment/labor laws, such as Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality. 
  • Previous experience operating in a rapid growth business and organization, with global expansion a plus.
  • Analytical mindset; you seek to understand and solve a problem and instinctively ask for data.
  • Emotional intelligence and judgment, enabling your success as a trusted partner for Skillz business leaders.
  • Passion and drive to make Skillz the best place to work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or related certifications helpful, but not required.
  • Previous experience working with HR systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.).

*Starting total compensation = Base + bonus(if applicable) + Equity

*Base salary range for this position is $72K - $88K + bonus & equity for Las Vegas, NV based on education and experience
