Overview:

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software System Tester to join our Quality Assurance team. As a Software System Tester, you will be responsible for testing software systems to ensure they meet the required standards, are free from defects, and function as intended. You will play a critical role in identifying, reporting, and tracking defects, and collaborating with the development team to resolve issues.

Travel: Negligible Clearance:

An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in software testing, preferably in an agile environment
  • Proficiency in testing frameworks, such as Selenium, Appium, TestComplete or RTM
  • Experience with test automation tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI
  • Familiarity with defect tracking tools, such as JIRA, Trello, or Bugzilla
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles, including agile methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:

Test Planning:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure thorough testing of software systems
  • Identify, analyze, and document testing requirements and scope

Test Execution:

  • Execute manual and automated tests to identify defects and report them to the development team
  • Perform exploratory testing, usability testing, and compatibility testing

Defect Management:

  • Identify, document, and report defects found during testing
  • Collaborate with the development team to reproduce, isolate, and resolve defects
  • Verify defect fixes and ensure that defects are properly closed

Test Automation:

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using relevant tools and frameworks
  • Integrate automated tests into the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline with working with the DevSecOps Engineer

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, product management, and design
  • Provide regular progress updates, test results, and defect reports to stakeholders

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools
  • Participate in retrospectives and contribute to process improvements

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test results

Stakeholder Management:

  • Communicate test plans, test results, and defect reports to stakeholders, including project managers, product owners, and customers
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) certification or equivalent
  • Experience with cloud-based testing platforms, such as AWS Device Farm or Google Cloud Test Lab
  • Experience with containerization using Docker or Kubernetes
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is required. Compensation:

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

 

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $84,000 - $119,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
