How the IoT Validation Team Works

The Silicon Labs IoT Validation team is responsible for the development of software, test plans, hardware and systems to validate and accurately optimize and measure the real-life performance of our integrated circuits. We work closely with several functional teams (Design, Systems, Production Test, and Applications) in addition to other validation teams around the globe to define what to validate and how.

The Role

Silicon Labs is looking for experienced individuals who understand MCU architecture, know how to test and verify system performance, have experience with architecting and writing complex (PC) software systems. Our team is responsible for important parts of the performance specifications and datasheets for the products. We also investigate and look for ways to improve performance of new and existing products and assist the Application Team with customer support. The ability to validate and resolve issues related to MCU performance in a timely manner is essential to our ability to continue to create world class products for our customers.

Is This A Great Match For You?

It is if you are a detail oriented system level engineer with a solid understanding of MCU concepts, writes structured software, knows measurement techniques and like to get to the bottom of things. Engineers inquiring about this position should be familiar with test instrumentation, automation and optimization, data analysis and visualization and Python scripting; in addition to being able to understand HW design and the interaction between HW, FW and SW in an embedded system. Successful candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and will be comfortable explaining technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, including senior engineering leaders.

Key responsibilities
  • Development of efficient and accurate automated tests to validate functionality and measure electrical characteristics of low energy integrated circuits.
  • Development and optimization of test systems and infrastructure consisting of HW, SW libraries, drivers, instrument control and set-up, and data storage system
  • Data analysis and visualization
  • Efficient execution of various types of tests
  • Partner and customer interaction


Qualifications
  • B.S or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is required
  • Years of experience with embedded SW, PC software, HW development and/or measurement and documentation of electrical properties and performance.
  • Knowledge of microcontroller embedded processors a plus
  • Software development and architecture skills (Python, C# or similar)
  • Embedded software development skills (C and/or assembly language)
  • Solid understanding of electronic engineering fundamentals and mixed signal hardware
  • Measurement technique and lab experience
  • Understanding of hardware or the desire to learn more about hardware and the interaction between hardware, firmware and software in an embedded system.
