Meet The Team
The Senior Manager Systems Engineering for the Home and Life business (H&L) will play a critical role in shaping the company's Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) roadmaps to support key H&L applications. This role is to work with the world's leading IoT market makers to understand the trends in the industry, create practical solutions and advise leadership on creative options to solve future needs. This is a high-profile role within Silicon Labs with direct engagement with senior leadership across the company. This position will ensure that H&L maintains a competitive edge by delivering differentiated solutions, aligning product development with market needs, and supporting cross-functional teams including business segments, product management, and R&D.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop a Differentiated HW and SW Roadmap:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and drive a comprehensive hardware and software development strategy tailored to H&L key applications.
  • Lead a team of 5-7 systems engineers to shape the future of IoT solutions.
  • Lead the performance evaluation process by providing real-time feedback to team members, identifying development opportunities, and collaborating on compensation planning.
  • Ensure that the roadmap supports application scalability, customer innovation, and aligns with emerging market trends.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements and competitor activities to articulate why H&L solutions stand out in the marketplace.

Competitor Analysis and Market Positioning:
  • Lead team efforts to understand competitive offerings and market dynamics.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to identify differentiators in our solutions and clearly articulate the reasons our products win in the market.
  • Provide insights and analysis that shape strategic decisions regarding product development and positioning.

Create and Document Long-term Technical Requirements:
  • Develop and maintain a technical requirements repository of customer applications, focusing on present capabilities and projected evolution over 1, 3, and 5 years.
  • Create high-level hardware and software architectures that meet future customer needs and trends.
  • Define key value propositions and differentiators for both the current and future states of the solution.
  • Lead and document technical discussions with customers, ensuring alignment between customer needs and H&L's offerings.

Cross-functional Collaboration with Sales & Product Management :
  • Partner with Product Management team to provide detailed technical input for building the product portfolio, including hardware and software requirements and future application architecture evolution.
  • Ensure the SiLabs sales community fully understands the competitiveness of the H&L product portfolio, the key value propositions, and how our solutions meet customer needs.
  • Lead team of systems engineers to act as technical resources and partner with the segment team in customer engagements to demonstrate the superiority of H&L's products.

Guidance for R&D Teams:
  • Develop and establish clear guidelines and acceptance criteria for both hardware and software development, ensuring alignment with product performance metrics and market expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D to provide leadership and direction on product features, performance metrics, and system integration that ensures alignment with H&L goals.


Technical Leadership and Strategic Planning:
  • Provide leadership in the development of new technologies and systems that address key market needs, focusing on innovation and product differentiation.
  • Work closely with the executive team to set the strategic direction for system engineering, ensuring long-term success in key application areas.


Process Improvement and Team Development:
  • Continuously improve engineering processes to ensure tracking of application requirements and timely and successful delivery of high-quality products.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performance systems engineering team to execute the H&L strategy effectively.


Skills You Will Need:
  • 15+ years of experience in systems engineering, product development, or a similar role within hardware and software environments.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally with business, product management, and R&D teams.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership leading geographically diverse team of systems experts.
  • Ability to present and drive discussions with major customers and executive team.
  • Proven track record of building and executing hardware and software roadmaps that align with market needs.
  • Deep understanding of hardware-software integration and systems engineering principles.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic skills, particularly related to competitive analysis and market positioning.


The following qualifications will be considered a plus:
  • Experience in the semiconductor, IoT, or embedded systems industries.
  • Strong background in product portfolio management, market analysis, and guiding R&D efforts.
  • Ability to influence and align teams across different functional areas and levels of the organization.

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $142,682 - $264,981 USD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
