Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.

We're currently recruiting students for our Summer 2025 SSP semester Strategic Student Program. Our intern positions will allow you to find a career path that most inspires you. Baseline Program Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as a university Undergraduate or Master's student
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Authorized to work in the United State without the need for current or future sponsorship by the company
  • Graduating no earlier than 2026
  • Location: Remote (EST or CST)

1. Software Engineer Intern (Security Testing Automation Research & Development focus)

Technology & Innovation team (T&I)

Our Technology & Innovation office (T&I) is responsible for high-tech, innovative research and design. T&I provides shared platform, architecture, innovation and development services. Project assignments in this organization vary greatly depending on the business needs. At times, students may:

  • Partner with senior security engineers to develop, modify, and implement automated security software testing frameworks and solutions
  • Conduct research on cutting-edge security testing methodologies and algorithms to solve complex business challenges
  • Create documentation from independent research findings, including white papers on application security
  • Push the limits of current automated security testing to expand and improve the security posture of our software
  • Students who co-op with this team are typically assigned to a cutting-edge security-focused projects, and are responsible for researching how innovative security testing solutions can be integrated into Siemens Software Product Lifecycle
    • Research topics have included: Application Security, AI-driven security testing, automation in CI/CD pipelines, threat modelling, Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs), etc.

Organization Requirements:

  • Studying for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a focus on cybersecurity or software security
  • Strong coding skills in C, C++, JAVA, JavaScript, or Python with an emphasis on secure coding practices
  • Familiarity with security testing tools (e.g., SAST, DAST, IAST) and experience in automated security testing preferred
  • Upper classman is preferred (with prior internship or co-op experience)
  • Student must be proactive, capable of setting their own timelines, able to work independently, and disciplined
  • Rapidly learn new development languages and coding techniques
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and secure software development practices are a must
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills, especially in identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities
  • Passionate about cybersecurity, security automation and solving complex security challenges
  • Creative, fast learner, capable of rapidly adopting new technologies and methodologies
  • Independent thinker and self-motivated researcher

2. Software Engineer Intern (API security Testing Automation Research and Development focus)

Our Technology & Innovation office (T&I) is responsible for high-tech, innovative research and design. T&I provides shared platform, architecture, innovation and development services. Project assignments in this organization vary greatly depending on the business needs. At times, students may:

  • Partner with senior security engineers to develop, modify, and implement API security solutions
  • Conduct research on cutting-edge security testing methodologies and algorithms to solve complex business challenges
  • Create documentation from independent research findings, including white papers on API security
  • Coordinate discussions, workshops, and collaboration within the API Security Community to ensure security practices are consistently applied and continuously improved
  • Push the limits of current automated API Security testing to expand and improve the security posture of our APIs
  • Students who co-op with this team are typically assigned to a cutting-edge security-focused projects, and are responsible for researching how API Security testing solutions can be integrated into Siemens Software Product Lifecycle

Organization Requirements:

  • Familiarity with security testing tools (e.g., Burp Suite, ZAP, DAST) and experience in automated security testing preferred

  • Student must be proactive, capable of setting their own timelines, able to work independently, and disciplined
  • Rapidly learn new development languages and coding techniques
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and secure software development practices are a must
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills, especially in identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities
  • Passionate about cybersecurity, API security automation and solving complex security challenges
  • Creative, fast learner, capable of rapidly adopting new technologies and methodologies
