Internship Program, Belgium.

The intention of this program is to provide real-world internship experience. It supports students with topics related to simulation software, testing systems, and customer practices. Domains include system dynamics, structural integrity, flow-thermal analysis, control systems, reliability, acoustics, and energy efficiency. Additionally, the internships align with the academic programs of the most prestigious technical universities in Belgium and the EU. This ensures support for ongoing innovation activities and hands-on experience with simulation models. At the conclusion of your internship, you will become part of the SIEMENS Software Early Careers network. This will give you visibility for our graduate programs and associate positions globally.

Simcenter Studio 2410 - Project

You will join a project Simcenter Studio 2410 with the goal to implement a machine learning algorithm within Simcenter Studio. Simcenter Studio employs AI to generate system architectures, automate controller generation, and facilitate stakeholder collaboration.

Reinforcement Learning (RL) is a key component of our generative engineering (GE) tool. Given system requirements, our customers use GE to explore the design space and identify the best possible system. This involves generating a large number of systems with different configurations and evaluating them through simulations of complex, non-trivial behaviors, enabled by a controller-in-the-loop approach. RL significantly accelerates the generation of controllers, particularly when handling a large number of systems with diverse configurations. By tailoring controllers to each specific system, RL streamlines the process and reduces effort, making it more efficient and scalable.

Specifically, the goal of the project is to extend our RL package for generating controllers when handling a large number of systems with diverse configurations with state-of-the-art deep reinforcement learning algorithms and testing their efficacy.

About you!

You are currently pursuing research master's degree in engineering with emphasis in machine learning/AI or system engineering. For this internship it is necessary to be enrolled in an engineering program.

  • You're proactive, results-driven, and motivated, with a solid academic background.
  • You have experience with deep learning algorithms.
  • You have experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
  • You're confident in your Python programming skills.

Requirements for the applicants

  • Interns must be enrolled in a Master's degree of a university within the European Union and remain enrolled for the entirety of their internship period, ensuring eligibility to intern in the EU. (EU Nationals / International Students under an EU student visa)
  • Enjoyment in communicating ideas and collaborating.
  • SIEMENS DISW follows export control procedures for sensitive technologies; hence, interns undergo background checks like normal employees and can be vetted on this basis.
  • A motivation letter explaining how the internship will fit into your current academic program must be included as a page of your CV in PDF format.

Important information of the STS Internship Program

The STS Internship Program evaluates applicants on a case-by-case basis. All interested students must complete the necessary fields and screening questions as accurately as possible and upload their most recent CV in a format supported by the system (PDF or Word). Matched candidates will be contacted if their profile, research interests, and technical support capabilities meet the criteria. SIEMENS DISW do reserve the right to close registrations based on volumes. This is an unpaid academic/research program. Siemens Industry Software provides the accommodation if required and equipment during the period of the internship.
