Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior R&D manager to focus on the development of Siemens' Inverse Lithography Tooling (ILT) and mask synthesis flows and solutions for patterning processes. This role offers an extraordinary opportunity to help define and support the development of enabling RET/OPC capabilities for next-generation lithography processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Development and Innovation: Lead the architecture and development of advanced software solutions in C/C++/Python, focusing on inverse lithography technology and other cutting-edge applications.
- Project Leadership: Develop test cases, shell scripts, and SVRF to explore cutting-edge patterning scenarios in the inverse lithography space.
- Performance Evaluation: Objectively evaluate tool performance, analyze limitations, and measure performance against customer specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with R&D software engineering, product marketing, Quality Assurance (QA), and customers to create proposals for overcoming tool limitations. Test and document improvements.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, fostering collaboration and ensuring successful project delivery. Track progress using quantifiable numerical metrics.
- Technical Support: Provide in-depth technical support and training to customers, define and characterize new capabilities, support research partnerships, and work closely with AE teams in the field.
- Communication: Use PowerPoint, Jira, and Confluence to present clear, easy-to-read, and self-explanatory data. Publish and present at industry conferences, representing Siemens EDA, and build professional networks and relationships.
- Product Marketing: Communicate the value and benefits of new features and capabilities to the product marketing team.
Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in Applied Mathematics or related field.
- Experience: Over 10 years of experience in software engineering and R&D, with roles ranging from Staff Engineer to Senior Staff R&D Engineer.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in C/C++, Python. Familiarity with Unix and Linux OS.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting at industry conferences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing software for computational lithography, computational electromagnetics, and computational optics.
- Experience with machine learning and ML frameworks such as pytorch or tensorflow.
- Background in mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, and optimization.
- Experience with GPU-friendly algorithm implementation.

The salary range for this position is $171,900 to $309,400 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate's work location as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
