System support resource is needed to provide the necessaryadministration of systems within the Siemens PLM Software. Quality system support is crucial toproviding a productive development environment enabling the Siemens R&Dteam to meet or exceed challenging project objectives.

Platform support includes Linux, Windows, and VMWaresystems (desktops, laptops, and servers). The position involves performance based compensation and reports to anInfrastructure Engineering Manager who manages personnel at multiple sites.

• System administration, monitoring, upgrading,maintenance, installation, setup, configuration, testing and deployment ofsystems within Linux and Windows environments.

• Working with other groups to develop and ensureconsistency of internal policies and procedures while maintaining securityprocedures at the site.

• Communicating clearly, both verbally and inwriting, regarding issues and/or requirements, and being able to evaluate newtechnologies and methods are also required for this position.

• Ensure security hardening of systems and criticalpatches are being applied as necessary.

• Work with other IT personnel to ensurenetworking, office automation, and other enterprise services are workingproperly at your site.

• Provide required updates and maintenance to thelocal high performance virtualization cluster.

• As needed, provide backup support forvirtualization environments at other sites such as VMWare cluster environments.

• As appropriate, participate in cross-siteactivities including process improvements, standards development, and otherglobal projects.

• Provide consultation to development groups onserver and other hardware purchases.

RequiredKnowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • BS degree in a computer-relatedfield or equivalent experience in a computer environment
  • Familiarity with Dell, HP server Hardware andClient Hardware , support and update with FW/BIOS, working with vendor to fixthe server/client issues
  • 5+ years experience with the ability to perform system administration forLinux, Windows, and VMWare environments.
  • Familiarity with defining, implementing andautomating system processes
  • Good communication skills and ability to workwith multiple teams
  • Excellent customer service attitude
  • Ability to work independently or as part of ateam
  • Experience working in a multiple vendor platformenvironment
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software componentsand their interaction with operating system software, and excellenttroubleshooting skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effectiveworking relationships at all levels.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands andtimelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of shell scripting, batchprogramming, and PowerShell, web programming
  • Working knowledge of the following operatingsystems: CentOS, Red Hat, SUSE, Windows client OS, Windows server OS , andVMWare Technologies
  • Experience directly supporting system needs ofdevelopment team
  • This wouldinclude Git based source code management, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, and othertools used in modern development pipelines
  • Familiar with security administration,anti-virus software, and VPN's.
  • Experience leveraging system configuration toolssuch as Chef and Puppet.
  • Minimal travel expected

PreferredKnowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Experience directly supporting system needs ofdevelopment team
  • Familiarity working with Microsoft ActiveDirectory.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure support forvaries event like training, user conferences and product testing
  • Working knowledge of supporting high performancecluster environments based on Windows or Linux.
  • Working knowledge of central file storagesystems such as Network Appliance, Nimble, and other high availability filestorage.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects withminimal supervision.

Siemens Software. Transform the Everyday

The salary range for this position is $101,200 to$182,200 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actualcompensation offered is based on the successful candidate's work location aswell as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, andrelevant education/training.
