Siemens EDA is looking for a research and development engineer to design and implement algorithm-centric solutions in the high-level synthesis. We are looking for Floating point experts / researchers interested in floating point IPs/floating point generator development for High level synthesis.

The role is for industry leading high level synthesis tool - Catapult-C which takes ANSI C/C++ and SystemC inputs and generates register transfer level (RTL) code targeted to FPGAs and ASICs.
Catapult-C tool is used by top hardware design companies for designing cutting edge semiconductor chip design in automotive/machine learning/wireless design/video and image processing etc.
These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast and working on ambitious new initiatives. We are looking for passionate engineers to work in our back-end synthesis engineering team.
The role is a hybrid role located for our Munich or Grenoble office. For a really strong candidate with a relevant background, who is flexible to travel we can consider the option of a fully remote position.
This is a greenfield opportunity where you will be part of a core floating point team to define and create methodology for floating point based hardware design with High level synthesis.
In the role you will work on cutting edge research and complex problems developing frameworks for floating point generators, developing new Floating point IPs, Floating point based architectures in Catapult - C.

Technical Skills (Must have):
- Strong programming knowledge in C/C++ and object-oriented design skills.
- Experience in hardware modelling in VHDL/Verilog/SystemC - IP development
- Floating point standards, Floating-point based IP development.
- Good understanding of digital arithmetic - Hardware architecture and tradeoffs for digital arithmetic design, floating point architectures.
- Understanding/Prior experience in design and implementation of hardware architectures targeting FPGA/ASIC design.
- Experience with digital design tools - RTL modelling and verification / Logic synthesis / Timing analysis / Placement-Route for ASIC/FPGA.
Additional Technical Skills (Desirable ):
- Hardware/Software co-design.
- Script-programming skills with languages such as TCL, Perl, Python, Shell, etc.
- Background in compilers/High level synthesis.
- Experience in floating point generators / floating point compilers
General Skills: Strong positive attitude, Good presentation and communication skills, Self-driven and self-motivating, Able to implement technical solutions independently, Relationship building capabilities, Team player.
Required Education, and Experience
Bachelors with 8+ years or Master's degree with 5+ years or PhD with 3+ years' experience in EDA or related areas with degree in Computer Science / Electrical engineering or equivalent.
The Ideal Candidate should demonstrate:
- Previous experience with floating point in professional or during academic research.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate as part of globally distributed team
- Fluency in English
