Validation Test Lead

Mission :

This is a new role within the Verification and Validation (V&V) team for a senior test engineer with experience of leading the end-to-end Validation component of the V&V team while being capable of being "hands on" themselves. You will be involved in performing end-to-end validation testing of new capabilities for the flagship Schneider Home Energy Management System (HEMS) prior to delivery. In this role you will be hands on, taking ownership of and helping ensure that best testing practice is implemented by the Validation test engineers and will lead that initiative by consistently demonstrating examples of best practice. In this role you will interact regularly with members of other teams and other disciplines. This role will work in close partnership and collaboration with the Verification test lead and members of the verification team. This role requires proven experience as a senior test engineer with leadership capability, a strong sense of ownership and pride in your performance, the performance of others and its impact on the product success.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Lead experienced and capable test engineers across several territories, provide mentoring and help ensure adherence with agreed test processes.
  • Work collaboratively and productively with software developers and other roles in the agile teams e.g. Scrum Masters.
  • Work closely with members of the systems engineering and verification teams to ensure business and engineering requirements are understood while supporting test engineers do the same.
  • Build a strong collaborative working relationship with the verification test lead
  • Analyse user stories/use cases/requirements for validity, feasibility and traceability to tests.
  • Create and execute all levels of validation testing (e.g. Functional, System, Integration, Performance and Regression) with a positive, quality and customer-focused mindset in preparation for delivery of high quality software to end custmers.
  • Perform a lead role in evolving and tuning the test approach and strategy as required within an agile methodology for project delivery.
  • Ensure good adherence to agreed process by test engineers across all teams and ensure good test discipline is followed by test engineers. Advocate for the customer and be the voice of the customer.

Skills and attributes:
  • In this role you will be dealing with complexity, analysing information, implementing the agreed test strategies for testing and co-ordinating with business stakeholders.
  • You will own the day-to-day leadership of the test engineers. In that capacity you will require excellent organisational, communication and time management skills.
  • To thrive in this key role within the Engineering department you will need the ability to work positively with a wide range of individuals and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and pride in your performance, that of other members of the team and its impact on the success of the delivery
  • You will be a critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to balance the leadership aspects of this role with the hands-on commitments.
  • You will proven experience as a Software Test Engineer and have had experience leading small teams for at least 2 years.
  • To thrive in this role you will be driven to continually improve the software quality of the releases delivered to our customers, to refine test processes and provide effective support to test engineers without unnecessary burden and to support development and growth within the test teams beyond their current capabilities.
  • You will have demonstrated ability to coordinate offshore test engineers in different time zones toward task completion
  • You will have demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • ISTQB Certification to at least Foundation level would be advantageous
  • Fluency in English is required.

Education/Qualifications:
  • You will possess a Degree in a relevant subject or have practical relevant experience.
