What will you do?

As part of the engineering team for Power Systems Hub Canada and working closely with project managers and tender managers, you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical portion of projects both at tendering and execution stages. You may also be responsible for independently managing small projects. The responsibilities of this position extend to projects falling under the scopes of electrical distribution solutions, control solutions and process automation solutions, and projects that are primarily in the Mining, Utilities and Renewables, transportation, Water and Wastewater and Marine business segments.

  • Work with other team members, contractors, and consultants to resolve technical issues and to ensure the quality and integrity of engineering design executions.
  • Perform technical and managerial duties on small projects without the supervision of project managers (the technical leader will report directly to the project director on such projects).
  • Evaluate analysis study results and prepare written reports of findings, risks, recommendations, and mitigation solutions.
  • Perform design improvements primarily to support upgrades of facility power, control, and automation systems in conjunction with client needs.
  • Work with solutions sales teams and potential customers to help qualify customer needs and potential energy solutions.
  • Provide engineering cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Define technical architecture and provide technical support and quality control for assigned projects.
  • Work with the various Application Centers to select optimized products, software, and overall solutions for projects.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Member of ''Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec'' (OIQ) preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive work experience or evidence of strong subject matter expertise relevant for the position
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary team on complex projects
  • Proven ability to work independently and provide sound technical advice and constructive support to project managers
  • Experience with project engineering proposals, project development and customer presentations
  • Power Systems expertise
  • Control Systems expertise (asset)
  • Capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability and desire to travel up to 20% within Canada, US and Mexico
  • Proven skills in written and oral communication of technical information
  • Functional knowledge of English and French is required. Must be able to work with stakeholders located in Quebec, other Canadian provinces and internationally.
