Technical Assistance Group Engineer

El Paso, TX

This position is responsible for performing order engineering processes and managing day to day order engineering activities for Switchboard products at the El Paso production plants. This includes designing custom switchboards, creating bills of materials, developing drawings, seeking alternative part replacements, and helping production and other production support functions with engineering related activities.

What will you do?

  • Address different engineering and technical issues that arise with Low and Medium voltage switchgear and switchboard equipment once in the field.
  • Excellent ability to troubleshoot electrical control, mechanical and electrical interlocking systems, and ground fault schemes.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes governing the installation and use of low and medium voltage switchboards and switchgear.
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to excel under high pressure and time sensitive situations.
  • Strong Customer focus; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive customer relationships

  • Familiar with SAP System
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software including AutoCAD, SEEXP and ProE/Creo.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Power Systems, Mechanical, or equivalent
  • Experience in software, hardware, networking, database and/or system troubleshooting, diagnosis and problem solving
  • Power and/or electrical systems knowledge
  • Familiarity with UL 1558/891 and ANSI C37 preferred
  • Familiarity with Modbus and TCP/IP communications protocols, RS485 and Ethernet interfaces preferred.
