For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $80,600 - $120,960 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for preparing working drawings, primarily using Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) tools and techniques. It also includes the interpretation and drafting of engineering sketches.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties.

  • Setup and maintain CAD files.
  • Understands the CAD system features and commands.
  • Ensure conformance to office and industry drafting standards.
  • Convert and import architectural drawing files into CAD.
  • Develop architectural backgrounds of current floor plans.
  • Generate plans of existing structural systems and components.
  • Compile appropriate details and schematics as required by the proposed scope.
  • Convert and import text and schedules to drawings.
  • Ability to collect, organize, plan, and prepare drawing information representing the accurate spatial relationships of building/system components to support, facilitate, and assist in the design and progressive development of high-quality engineering drawings.
  • Performs algebraic and trigonometric calculations to determine the accurate location and/or geometry of scope elements to correspond with the spatial requirements during the development of engineering drawings.
  • Ability to prepare high quality engineering drawings representing viable and accurate manufactured building/system components and commonly referred to as the basis of design.
  • Ability to load and utilize lisp files and functions and run script files.
  • Understand and comply with quality requirements and follow CAD QC checklist.
  • Ability to identify complex structural systems and their various components.
  • Ability to participate in the design of structural systems.
  • Ability to participate in structural member and attachment calculations and selections.
  • Understands construction, functional, and performance requirements of scope.
  • Estimate project drafting time to ensure scope, schedule, budget, and expectations correspond with the team expectations.
  • Ensure timely production and delivery of reprographics.
  • Provide leadership in development of CAD standards and processes.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Provide input to designers, engineers, and project managers during initial and subsequent design phases.
  • Coordinate and prioritize workload to ensure project deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Perform field investigation as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate degree or two years of progressively responsible experience as a CAD Technician may be considered equivalent.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Four or more years relevant work experience required.


SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Advanced understanding of AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu for creating and editing architectural and structural construction documents.
  • Intermediate knowledge of building structural design and layout.
  • Basic ability to use Microsoft 365 programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, the ability to listen effectively and solicit input from others.
  • Excellent organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

The majority of the work is sedentary. However, when performing job site visits the employee may encounter any of the following: moving over rough or uneven surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities, recurring lifting of moderately heavy to light items, transporting of items such as laptop computers, tools, ladders, and other heavy equipment, driving an automobile, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the primary duties of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties.

While performing the primary functions of the job, the employee is regularly exposed a general office environment. During periods of project site visits, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions as well as attics, crawl spaces, and equipment rooms which could consist of confined spaces and loud noises. Employee may work in different environments while on various job sites. This job will require approximately 20-50% travel to project sites. Travel will occur by an automobile or by airplane to destinations.
