For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $136,000 - $204,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric has a challenging opportunity for a passionate individual to assume the role of Subject Matter Expert, Data Center Electrical System for System.AI in our Power Systems and Services division.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical System Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our System.AI Services team. This role requires in-depth expertise in how the electrical, mechanical and power systems in the large Data Centers are designed, operated and optimized, and how the key performance indicators are tracked. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing electrical infrastructure, ensuring uptime, reliability, and efficiency of data center operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Expertise:
- Provide expert guidance on electrical and mechanical systems for the team to leverage this knowledge in the build and execution of highly specialized datasets, analytics and AI models.
- Envision how electrical and mechanical systems operations can be improved and modified with the help of new insights that are generated from the vast amounts of data
- Help Data Engineers and Data Scientists interpret the data that comes from the Electrical and Mechanical systems
- Provide expert guidance on electrical and mechanical systems for the team to leverage this knowledge in the build and execution of highly specialized datasets, analytics and AI models.
2. System instrumentation and telemetry :
- Working hand in hand with the data acquisition specialist, craft the most effective instrumentation and telemetry strategy for the specific design of the customer system
- Working with the project manager, articulate installation and implementation strategy for the required instrumentation
3. Data Interpretation :
- Help Data Engineers and Data Scientists interpret the data that comes from the Electrical and Mechanical systems
- Provide expert guidance on electrical and mechanical systems for the team to leverage this knowledge in the build and execution of highly specialized datasets, analytics and AI models.
4. Optimization insights and outcomes:
- With the help of the data, define which insights are valuable to the way electrical and mechanical systems are operated
- Jointly with other team members, prepare recommendation reports, and share the recommendations with the Electrical and Mechanical engineers of the customer
5. Operational Support:
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the telemetry in selected projects.
- Develop and implement strategies for power efficiency, redundancy, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data issues when it comes to specific sensors and electronics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Must be based in either the greater Nashville, TN area or greater Boston, MA area.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical system design, with significant expertise in data centers.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuit design, power distribution, and backup systems in data centers.
- Experience with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC, TIA-942).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, generators, and switchgear.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability practices in data centers.
- Familiarity with safety and reliability analysis techniques (e.g., FMEA, fault tree analysis).
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
