This role focuses on functional and non-functional whole-system validation and early verification testing. You will interact with agile development teams and offshore teams during development and prior to system test delivery. Responsibilities include testing, test analysis, planning, engineering reports, and mentoring junior team members. You will drive improvements to development, test, and engineering processes, refine system requirements, and participate in agile activities for connected smart devices on the IoT.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, develop, and execute end-to-end whole-system tests, emphasizing product quality and hardware in the loop.

• Perform manual or automated test suits

• Provide test expertise to system test teams and support technical colleagues in cross-functional development teams.

• Collaborate with agile delivery teams for pre-integration and integration testing.

• Support in-field testing and trials, ensuring customer feedback influences engineering test activities.

• Design and develop tests to maximize coverage of system behavior and operation.

• Alert management to significant deviations or threats proactively.

• Challenge existing processes and propose new test procedures and improvements.

• Perform thorough testing on system release candidates and provide clear feedback.

• Represent the V & V team at planning events to ensure workable plans and commitments.

• Maintain test documentation and status of V & V activities.

• Ensure V & V entry criteria are met prior to commencement of activities.

• Drive rapid feedback on product behavior and identify automation opportunities.

• Participate in risk analysis, FMEA, and product design discussions.

Education/Qualifications:

• Degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.

• At least 5 years of experience as a Software Test Engineer, with 2 years of team leadership.

• Experience with automation frameworks (Appium, Selenium) is a plus

• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language (Python) is a plus

• ISTQB Certification (Foundation level) or willingness to acquire it.

• Fluency in English.

• Experience with Behavior Driven Development or willingness to learn.

• Professional attitude with good interpersonal skills.

• Team player comfortable with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.

• Objective and delivery-focused individual.
