Senior Product Engineer

Schneider Electric is searching for a n experienced Senior Product Engineer who will p rovide engineering design services for assigned and unassigned projects at all stages of the project life cycle.

As a Senior Product Engineer , a typical day for you might include:

  • Review ing and evaluat ing job specifications, system one-line diagrams, elevation and plan view drawings, fab details, assembly details and Bills of Material (BOM's) based on professional experience .
  • Work ing with Design Engineering to produce customer drawings and mechanical detail drawings and work with the Electrical group to produce complete system design drawings that meet specifications and industry standards .
  • Manag ing assigned activities by assuring completion within committed objectives , schedules, and costs.
  • Acting as the technical lead on assigned projects and will be knowledgeable and accountable for the work done on each project .
  • Work ing with the shop during fabrication and field technicians during startup to resolve issues and coordinate engineering efforts with other engineers as needed.
  • Provid ing technical support to other departments by answering questions and requests.
  • Develop ing custom mechanical designs for LV/MV switchgear projects/upgrades.
  • Oversee ing revisions to project designs and/or design standards .
  • Train ing and mentor ing engineers.
  • Review ing submittal packages and work ing with Project Management and/or Engineering Management on any items not clearly defined .
  • Maintain ing Product and company reputation by complying with applicable regulations and standards.

And on some days, you may also:

  • Evaluate assigned projects by designing and conducting research around custom specifications and applying knowledge of mechanics, stress analysis, heat transfer and materials.
  • Occasionally represent assigned engineering functions during Factory Witness Tests.
  • Keep technically abreast of changes, advancements, and/or improvements within area of assignment or discipline, incorporating these improvements where applicable.


This may be the next step in your career journey if you have:

  • A 4- y ear engineering degree ; master's in engineering or PE license will be considered a plus .
  • 5+ years of p rofessional experience with LV and MV Switchgear, OEM design activities, meeting schedules and providing technical support.
  • Experience with File Management Software, Job scope /JDE, and Microsoft Applications.
  • Advanced understanding of Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Switchgear Design applications.
  • Awareness and understanding of applicable codes, including NEC, NFPA110, NYC-EC, UL508, UL891, UL1008 and UL1558.
  • Strong me ntorship skills - a bility to teach skills by explaining technical processes with clarity and patience.
  • Adept in defining issues, gathering facts, considering multiple possible solutions and selecting the best outcome based on personal judgment.
