Job Title: Senior Maintenance Technician

Mission: Reporting to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager the Senior Maintenance Technician is expected to:

  • Provide Maintenance, Process Improvement, and Installation & Commissioning support primarily to Production but also to Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering, and other departments on site.
  • The role is biased towards electrical/electro-mechanical control system knowledge. The primary KPI is to reduce plant breakdowns through the proactive implementation of PPM and plant improvement activities.


Key responsibilities:
  • Resolve breakdowns and follow action plans to improve the MTBF and MTTR KPI's
  • Improve the machinery breakdown KPI's through the active completion and review of PPM
  • Accept and identify process and machinery improvement projects that will improve the H&S, output, efficiency or reliability of plant and equipment.
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of new lines, services, and equipment.
  • Support the Maintenance team in the improvement of department processes.

Skills and attributes:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an engineering/maintenance-based role within a multi-functional manufacturing facility
  • Ability to plan and balance daily work schedule based on PPM requirements whilst addressing plant and machinery breakdowns.
  • Experience of working on plant improvement projects
  • General understanding of mechanical control principles
  • An advantage but not essential is the ability to analyse a PLC program to identify and rectify any I/O faults (this is a competence that will be developed as part of the role)
  • IT literacy - MS Word, Excel, Power-point
  • A sound working knowledge of:
    • Automation / Controls Systems and how they function.
    • Ergonomics / Health and safety, and an awareness of overall behavioural standards and compliance in the workplace.
    • Planned Preventative maintenance PPM's.
    • PLC fault diagnostics skills to modular level
    • CMMS
    • Testing Analogue / Digital Electronic Circuits
    • De-bugging to component level
    • Recording and reporting data to customers
    • Lean manufacturing & 5s would be desirable.
    • Electronic schematic drawings.

Education
  • NVQ Level 4/City & Guilds/OND or equivalent mechanical/electrical/engineering biased qualification or time served knowledge
