Senior Export Control Manager EMEA

This position drives Schneider Electric's export control program & compliance through frequent trainings, stakeholder engagement and management, monitoring & communicating of regulatory changes. The role reports to the EMEA Director Export Control & International Sanctions within the Global Export Control Center of Excellence (CoE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance the company's global export control program as a member of the Global Export Control Center of Excellence (CoE)
  • Lead, coordinate, or support export control classification related projects and activities for EMEA
  • Be a subject-matter-export (SME) on EMA export control & sanctions regulations related to Export Control Jurisdiction and Classification and Licensing requirements.
  • Be the point of contact for export control related government agencies and authorities as applicable to J&C and Licensing.
  • Conduct and support reviews and audits at Schneider Electric sites, generate reports to senior management and lead improvement activities when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Perform training of personnel at all levels on a frequent basis. Advise Schneider Electric sites of new regulations and how they affect business processes when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Develop and provide advice for procedures ensuring adherence to export control and sanctions related regulations when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Work closely with Schneider Electric sites appointed/management personnel and export control Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) to ensure continuous improvement of all export control related systems, policies and procedures when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Support & advice on internal investigations and promptly reports the results of any investigations to Schneider Electric management when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the management of the company on export control and sanctions related compliance matters & requirements. This may include providing advice and guidance in the preparation and submission of export control and sanctions related licenses and agreements as well as advising on the implementation of technology control plans and other export control and sanctions related procedures and work instructions.
  • Provide advice and guidance in cross-functional projects relating to export control and sanctions as applicable when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Identify and report to Schneider Electric any potential violations of export control and sanctions laws and any incidents involving significant weaknesses in processes or procedures when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Maintain and assist with the implementation of corporate export controls & sanctions related policies, procedures and guidelines when it relates to J&C and Licensing.
  • Provide advice and recommendations on required export control & sanctions licenses, agreements, shipping documents and other underlying documentation for accurate compliance with the applicable export control and sanctions regulations.
  • Attend export control and sanctions seminars/conferences to maintain knowledge on regulatory updates and changes.
  • Provide advice, support and/or back-up in any ad-hoc export control & sanction projects (e.g., Merger & Acquisition and Divestment, Classification & etc.), activities & discussion at both Corporate & Cross-Region/Country as assigned when it relates to J&C and Licensing.

Successful Candidate Qualifications:
  • Master degree II or equivalent required; advanced degree helpful
  • Competent export control experience required, preferable in a multinational company
  • 10-15 years of detailed and extensive knowledge and experience in EU and International Export Control & Sanctions related regulations, including classification, licensing, reporting and export program development & management.
  • 25% travel domestically and internationally when required
  • Demonstrated ability to both leading a team and being a team player
  • Proficiency with MS office applications
  • Excellent oral and written skills
