We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Construction Senior Professional to join our Projects Team within our Digital Buildings Business.

Reporting to the General Manager - Projects, the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) will be responsible for: Projects delivered by their team, with a focus on project delivery excellence, financial performance, and client relationships. Support the development of all people within their team to excel in their role and progress with their desired career paths and drive staff engagement and retention. Maintaining strong relationships with key contractors to drive recurring work and minimize the risk of disputes.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

The role of the ROM is to drive a high-performance department culture both with direct team and peer teams aligning to our core values and leadership expectations. They will be a true leader of the team and promote and foster a collaborative culture ensuring openness, transparency, acceptance, coaching, mentoring and passion.

Maintain a high level of communications with clients, and direct and indirect staff.

Maintain strong relationships with our key sub-contractors to foster loyalty, compliance/safety, and performance on our projects.

Responsibility of people management of the entire Projects department including but not limited to performance appraisals, performance improvement plans and career and competency reviews, Individual development Plans.

The ROM will:
  • Understand and position the Schneider Electric value proposition for the chosen customer segments.
  • Build a team of product specialists with application knowledge aligned to the segment, meeting customer demands resulting in industry best in class solutions.
  • Possess strong presentation and communication skills to deliver value propositions, support in tender submissions, presentations, and trainings to both external and internal parties.
  • Can establish and deliver the customers technical requirements and commercial benefits is essential.
  • Deliver on the all the departments Revenue and Profit budgets.
  • Be a team advocate of the company vision and strategies to deliver on that vision including staff engagement, company ambitions and priorities.
  • Be responsible for the strategic direction of the solutions department driving resource planning, risk mitigation and project profitability.
  • Support in contract negotiations with our customers.

In addition, you have the following skills:
  • Project Management or commercial management qualification (preferred).
  • Possess extensive established contacts within the local Construction industry.
  • Project Management experience in construction.
  • Successful team leadership experience, including engineers.
  • Contract negotiation experience.
  • Industry knowledge is essential, in particular: Building Management Systems, Security Systems, Mechanical Services, Electrical Services or similar.
  • Frequent local travel and interstate travel.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and days.
  • Team Contributor/Player, thrives on building others up to their potential.
