Project Manager

As Project Manager you will work for our Offsites Management group in Baarn. Our group of about 40 enthusiastic engineers, develops a software solution targeted at optimization of workflow and processing for refineries, petrochemical terminals and lube oil companies. Besides developing the software, we execute projects where our solutions are applied on a global scale.

We are looking for a high-performing technical Project Manager to join our project management and services team, taking on a very broad responsibility for the successful end-to-end delivery of software projects for our existing and future customer base.

The role will challenge you beyond a traditional project management role. You will be encouraged to have a reasonable understanding of the technical aspects of the project as well as the commercial business processes, while still being able to distance yourself from technical in-depth involvement. You will have a proven ability as fast-learning and fast-thinking; assimilating new information to provide useful consultancy and guidance.

You are a talented communicator in both commercial and technical contexts: able to quickly understand and explain complex engineering software concepts while being just as comfortable with complex commercial negotiations. You will have strong written and verbal skills to communicate across the company and with our broad client base.

You must be able to communicate with software developers, project engineers, engineering-oriented clients up to senior management on all aspects of a projects. During project execution cooperation with other foreign Schneider Electric offices is often required.

An engineering, scientific background and good communication abilities are essential, as it is important to understand the technical aspects of the client business process before being able to provide them a solution.

You will manage projects of the Offsites Management department, typically for the Oil & Gas industry, Lube oil manufacturers and on occasion for other industries.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Responsible for the successful end to end delivery of software projects.
  • Responsible for the communication with the customer and other parties.
  • Scope, cost and time management
  • Analysis and management of project risks
  • Responsible for project planning, coordination, communication, reporting, and archiving. This includes the writing of a project execution plan and development of project schedules.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a software project management or product management role, ideally within the petroleum industry or other process industries
  • Ability to manage the entire project with a strong understanding of the technical aspects, without technical in-depth involvement
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to understand and explain complex technical topics
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to work in a team environment
  • Proven organizational and time and project management skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain technical and commercial awareness
  • Fluent in English and preferably Dutch, both spoken and written. Other foreign language(s) are considered as an advantage.
  • Willing to travel up to 15% of the time.

Desirable
  • Experience working with formal project methodologies (e.g. APM PRINCE 2, PMI/BOK) and associated accreditation (e.g. PMI PMP, IPMA Level C, PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • Basic knowledge of industrial automation systems. and an a ffinity with software in general.
