Schneider Electric USA, Inc. seeks a Principal Electrical Design Engineer in Hopkins, SC.
Job Description: Design switchgear and switchboards based on customer plans and specifications. Work with systems involving ground fault design, PLC transfer automation and power monitoring. Work with UPS and Generator switchgear applications, layout and configuration of switchgear and switchboards. Read, understand, interpret customer specifications. Design control schemes utilizing Modicon (Premium/Quantum) PLCs and programmable relays, to accomplish complex transfer operations. Create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using SEEXP, AUTOCAD. Design ground fault protective schemes, including those involving multiple sources. Appropriately size breakers, switches, fuses, cables, bussing, current transformer, potential transformer, control power transformer, UPS, and battery system. Generate bill of material and modification of standard assemblies as required to suit the application using Order editor, SAP and AMAPS. Develop relay-based transfer scheme for the multiple sources. Eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week.

Requirements: Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-bachelor's manufacturing experience in the power distribution engineering field, or related field, which must include at least some experience in the following skills: Design of custom control schemes using SE PLC's and custom programmable relays; Designing custom ground fault circuits using SE MDGF methodology; Integrating and designing communication networks using Modbus and TCP/IP communications protocols, including RS-485 and Ethernet interfaces, that utilize many different SE products; Design of custom mechanical interlocking schemes utilizing various product offers from Kirk Key Interlock Company (including transfer blocks and SKRU's); Candidate must have the ability to lead team training sessions and to mentor less experienced personnel; Creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using SEEXP, AUTOCAD; Applying power circuit monitoring principles (PM8000, PM5000 and ION9000); and Applying protective relaying SEPAM (SQ1S42,SQ1G40,SQ1M41, SQ1T42), VAMP (P3F30, P3L30,P3M30,P3T32,P3G32, P3U10, P3U20, P3U30) Basler(ES type,BE1-700V), Schweitzer (751, SEL-300G, 587, 787, SEL 2240,3350 RATC), including over/under voltage, phase loss, frequency, and sync check functions.
