Pre Sales Engineer - Industrial Automation

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pre-sales Engineer to join our Industrial Automation team in Melbourne!

Our Industrial Automation business delivers services and solutions that enable our customers to make the most of their energy, ensuring reliability, efficiency and safety whilst providing the best ROI. Our key domains include; Water / Waste Water, Minerals, Metals & Mining, Oil, Gas, Petroleum, Consumer Packaged Goods, Manufacturing, Power Generation and Renewables.

As the Pre-Sales Engineer you will work closely and collaboratively with the sales, account managers, pre-sales, offer management, and delivery teams to influence the adoption of our technology.

Success in this position will require gaining a great understanding of a customer's processes, their drivers, requirements, and pain points. You will then define the right advanced automation solution, proposing the best options with a focus on our control system architecture, known as EcoStruxure. Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to :

  • Leverage and grow current opportunities across our target segments
  • Promotion of digital, cyber and advanced service solutions that best meets customer requirements
  • Maintain and grow SE's Install base through modernisations, migrations and attached services
  • Partner with customers to identify and grow opportunities
  • Net new business and digital service-based solutions
  • Build strategic relationships, increase pipeline and ultimately meet assigned revenue targets
  • Prescription work through our main market segments and customers


About You

We're not looking for just anyone, we never have. We're appealing to the sales individuals who looks beyond what is just in front of them, and applies innovative, inclusive, and result centric strategies to driving growth .

We don't want to narrow the field; however, we do believe that instrumental to your success in this role will be the following skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant sales experience in Industrial Automation or Industrial Software portfolios
  • The ability to identify complex business problems to then leverage the integration of automation OT (PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS, Telemetry) with IT, endpoint to the cloud, and digital services
  • Ideally Functional Safety Engineer certified by TUV
  • Good operational understanding with one or all of our key domains in WA (Water Waste Water, Mining and Oil & Gas)
  • Previous success in a customer-facing pre-sales or technical consulting role
  • Ability to listen and translate customer needs into business solutions, demonstrating our value proposition
