Position Summary

  • As a Patent Paralegal in Schneider Electric's Legal Intellectual Property Team, you will join a talented and collaborative group of in-house lawyers and legal professionals to support global patent portfolio management operations.
  • This role will support the US Patent Team (Andover, MA) either remotely or locally with IP legal operations, patent portfolio development, oversight of docketing and outside counsel management.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Data Management & Docketing
    • Administering the Intellectual Property Management system for the global patent and design management;
    • Overseeing/managing in-house patent and design docket, including but not limited to setting up new matters, docketing incoming and outgoing correspondence, uploading documents, verifying deadlines, closing matters, and generating and preparing patent applications/grant reports ;
    • Coordinating international filings with outside counsel/foreign law offices and/or other foreign entities;
    • Reviewing incoming correspondence from WIPO, RO/US and/or foreign associates regarding current status of international and PCT applications;
    • Managing patent-related deadlines and ensuring that deadlines are timely met by in-house team, inventors, and outside counsel as appropriate;
    • Supporting IP Management system data integrity/quality assurance review to avoid and successfully resolve errors, omissions and data integrity issues , docket management configuration and data validation;
    • Assisting with the preparation and recordation of formal documents, including Declarations, Powers of Attorney, Assignments, and Inventor/name changes;
    • Managing USPTO Deposit Account;
    • Performing global annuity portfolio management;
  • Outside Counsel management
    • Reviewing monthly reports /dashboard to identify matters needing attention;
    • Working with Outside Counsel, internal counsel and inventors when needed to resolve any issues;
    • Supporting issues related to vendor invoice submission;
  • Communication
    • Communicating with inventors to collect information related to patent transmittals/filings;
  • Supporting the o nboarding new law firms by providing the guidelines and documents for signature and new vendor creation in invoice processing system
  • Support patent budget data analysis
  • Provide IP support for projects as needed
  • Support M&A and corporate transactions

Qualifications
  • At least 3+ years of experience as a Patent Paralegal
  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
  • Experience in international intellectual property law, docketing, and the filing and prosecution processes in the US, WIPO, and corresponding international filings/prosecution
  • Experience with patent portfolio management databases, process flow definition, system administration and data integrity resolution, data reporting and management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams

  • Capable of working on own initiative as well as in a collaborative global team environment.
  • Independently driven, but self-aware as to know if and when to escalate an issue.


Preferences
  • At least 2+ year of in-house experience
  • Expertise with Patent Center
  • Familiar with the Patent lifecycle for US and PCT patent applications
  • Good technical knowledge
  • Proficiency with IP analytics systems, IP management systems, and invoice processing systems
  • Experience in on-boarding IP portfolio asset transfers
  • Experience using Tableau, Questel Orbit, and/or Legal Tracker
