What do you get to do in this position?

1. Design critical and complex automatic machines/processes
  • Utilize your knowledge of lean manufacturing, robotics, pick and place systems, vison systems, conveyors, servo drives, pneumatics, and hydraulics, to design automatic machines and processes for high volume manufacturing.
  • Perform computer simulations and experiments to virtually test and optimize the automatic process prior to purchase orders and installation
  • Create CAD models, including part and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support the construction of the overall automatic manufacturing process.
  • Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals for the automatic equipment and process.
  • Collaborate with automation technicians to ensure assembly and quality of the automatic equipment is built in accordance with the design standards
  • Support purchasing and sourcing teams to select components per the design standard of the automatic machines and process.
  • Design and create efficient testing methods within the automatic manufacturing process to ensure the manufactured product meets or exceeds the performance criteria.
  • Participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs and codes.
  • Support onsite installation of the automatic machines to ensure Key Performance Indicators will be achieved (safety, quality, production rate).


2. After installation, provide technical support and customer service to the manufacturing site (end user) and the industrialization team.

3. Work with senior and fellow engineers in NAM (North America) and abroad to develop alternatives and options for further enhancements of automatic machines and processes.

4. Research competitor products quarterly and collaborate with product development teams to generate ideas for making Schneider Electric products the best in North America

Qualifications

This job might be for you if:
  • Education: Mechanical / Mechatronics - Bachelor's degree or related field
  • Job Related Experience: More than 2 - 4 years of experience in Customized Design of Automatic machines and processes for high volume production
  • Availability to travel 30% of the time
  • Strong knowledge and experience of equipment installations and qualification procedures
  • Strong knowledge of CAD modeling, drawings and machine
  • Experience with Creo parametric is a plus.
  • Experience with CAE software is a plus.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as stampings, CNC machining, injection molding, electrical testing, riveting, automatic assembly, palletizing, pick and place systems, vision systems, and wire winding. (knowledge of turning and milling is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of safety & environmental standards associated with automatic machine design.
  • Investigative mind - inclined toward developing practical solutions to real-world problems.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities (both English and Spanish).
  • Hands-on and can-do attitude.
  • The ability to stay current of advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
  • Willingness to take on non-traditional tasks, roles, responsibilities, and challenges needed to accomplish company goals and objectives
  • Valid USA Visa is a plus, but not mandatory
