In your role as a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design and integration of Medium Voltage (MV) air and gas insulated switchgears. You will participate in cross functional teams to define requirements, analyze design feasibility and propose innovative solutions that meet customer needs and specifications. You will conduct system analysis to resolve tradeoffs and drive integration of system engineering tools and processes across platforms to optimize performance.   • Responsible for the design of Medium Voltage air and gas insulated switchgear
  • Accountable for investigating and procuring all data required to develop complex designs.
  • Prepare sketches and/or schematic diagrams.
  • Work independently, exercises latitude and judgment to develop designs with minimal supervision
  • Prepare accurate layout, detail and assembly drawings.
  • Perform mechanical analysis of mechanisms (tolerance, stress, deformation, kinematic)
  • Become adept in Lean Agile practices and team processes

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of product development experience (for Bachelor's degree; less experienced considered with advanced degree).
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Prior experience working within Creo is a must.
  • Prior experience with IEEE / ANSI / UL testing requirements is strongly preferred
  • Must have experience designing medium voltage switchgear equipment
  • Experience with formal product safety review process
  • Experience creating and managing of design and application FMEAs
  • Experience with tolerance analysis using Tolerance Manager, CETOL or equivalent
  • Ability to fulfill technical missions with autonomy to propose/develop complex solutions in Medium Voltage. Demonstrated ability to provide mentoring, instructions/assistance to more junior team members.
  • Ability to interface with manufacturing and quality organizations to ensure that a well-optimized and sustainable component/assembly is developed from fabrication/assembly concerns (Tolerance Analysis).
  • Experience establishing internal procedures and best practices.
  • Experience developing synchronized changes/advances to existing product releases. This includes manipulation of appropriate CAD software.
  • Experience developing electronic and hard copy records that conform to internal standards and support the development, implementation, and maintenance stages of the projects/products. Examples include up to date BOM (part number, description, material, processes, where used), Component Drawings (geometry, functional dimensioning, process callout), and Project General Files
  • Ability to prepare instructional/operational information as required.
  • Experience preparing sketches or diagrams reflecting basic design concept. Ability to make mathematical calculations and adjustments in drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to recommend changes or modifications as appropriate to meet manufacturability, functionality, and measurability requirements.
  • Ability to prepare and oversee final layout, detail, assembly drawings, and other required documentation.
  • Ability to create computer models of the product design concept
  • Experience generating and maintaining organized database and/or B.O.M., change reports and/or other documentation.
  • Experience in formal new product development processes
