Home & Distribution (Connected Offers) is a division of Schneider Electric focusing on smart home IoT systems designed to bring sustainability, energy efficiency and comfort to residential and small buildings. We design smart connected products and services, this includes, physical devices installed within the home, the cloud platforms that support data collection and analytics, and the Mobile Apps that allow the user to monitor and control the solution. The Lead Data Scientist is a key player in our Analytics/Data Science team, responsible for developing complex solutions autonomously within a technical domain. This role involves a blend of technical expertise and leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and guiding team members.

You will be working within a multi-disciplined engineering team working in an Agile framework and you will be in charge of coordinating the activities related to:

  • Developing and maintaining the Energy Management algorithms.
  • Collaborate with the wider Schneider DS community (ex : AI Hub) on improving or integrating new algos developed within the group.
  • Collaborate with the wider R&D teams and external partners to evaluate alternative or new features and benchmark performance with competition.
  • Coordinate activities to learn from the data available through our installed base, provide statistics or analyse feature usage and performance on real data.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Gather data from diverse sources to construct predictive models that uncover patterns and trends, leading to actionable business insights.
  • Data Modeling & Use Case Preparation: Prepare case-relevant data, identify anomalies, and interpret data to predict future trends.
  • Model Creation & Algorithm Implementation: Identify critical model features, reduce datasets to relevant data, and implement cutting-edge machine learning algorithms.
  • Results Synthesis & Industrialization: Present findings to the business and collaborate with AI engineers for model deployment.
  • Technical Solution Development: Propose and develop complex solutions with autonomy and provide technical missions within the domain.
  • Leadership & Mentoring: Offer mentoring, instructions, and assistance to team members, and help establish internal procedures and best practices.
  • Agile Development: Design and develop complex data management, artificial intelligence, and analytic models and applications in Agile mode.
  • Coding & Debugging: Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.
  • Team Management: May direct a few Engineers/Technicians, ensuring efficient team operations.


What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

Qualifications:
  • 5 to 8 years of related experience in data science, with a proven track record of successful model creation and deployment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information accurately.
  • Expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, and various data science tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills to synthesize complex findings into clear insights and actions for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative team player who can work closely with cross-functional teams, including AI engineers, to bring predictive models to production.
  • Experience in technical leadership and mentoring, with the ability to propose and develop complex solutions autonomously.


Methods and tools:
  • Agile framework: Jira, Confluence, Jama.
  • Data: MS Azure Databricks, PowerBI, Tableau, SQL.
  • Programming: Python & associated librairies for DS (Pytorch, Tensorflow), C#, R, ...
  • Modelling: Matlab / Simulink, ...


Education:
  • A degree in an science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline or equivalent.
