Location: Regensburg
We are seeking an Integration (Electronic and Mechanical) Design Engineer (f/m/d) with a strong background in designing medium voltage power electronics converters. You will work on the mechanical design and development of innovative and reliable converter solutions, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams of electrical and software engineers.
Your work field:
- Create conceptual design and detailed design in 3D CAD for power converters, indoor and outdoor cabinets, containers, etc.
- Prepare innovative own designs from specifications and create drawings and assembly details for flexible or solid busbars, cooling units etc.
- Sizing, calculation, and specification of other mechanical equipment (pumps, heating, compressors, fans, auxiliary systems, etc.).
- Provide well thought out practical engineering solutions to stack design, troubleshooting and identifying issues affecting cost and reliability before and after installation.
- Conduct detailed thermal, structural, and vibration analyses with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to ensure designs meet product performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
- Work closely with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Preparation of BoM (bill of materials) for all the components and tracking the updates.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure cost-effective and manufacturable designs.
- Preparation of design reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Writing test specifications (Routine test, Type test) for mechanical tests based on standards.

Your profile:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSc or PhD).
- Several years of successful working experience in electromechanical design
- Proficiency in using 3D CAD software to design and optimize mechanical components and systems.
- Previous design, development, and integration experience in power electronics converters and the surrounding system components (laminated busbars, cooling systems, enclosures etc.) with an appreciation for thermal, vibration and EMC management.
- Strong understanding of pressure drop, flow rate, thermal effects, corrosion, etc.
- Good knowledge of material costs and delivery time.
- Good knowledge of industrial standards and regulations (vibration, degrees of protection, mechanical structures for electronic equipment, etc.) that are used for mechanical design of power converters.
- Good understanding of grounding, shielding, insulation and coordination and EMC along with tolerance analysis.
