Mission :

The role is part of the Central Procurement organization within the ETO (engineering to order) Power Systems and Solutions Business. Lead SE/Power Systems - ETO & Solutions Supplier Quality & Supplier Performance efforts in support of Schneider Electric's overall strategies focused on Supplier Quality.

Work closely with Business stakeholders, Customer Satisfaction and Quality Central teams, Engineering to Order manufacturing plants, LoB and other functional business groups to drive improvements in overall Global Supplier Quality Performance. Integrate with global teams to accelerate process improvement efforts to achieve sustained supplier quality, lead times, capacity, and flexibility across SE/ETO Procurement.

The Supplier Quality and Performance Director is responsible for developing world-class suppliers to the Schenider Electric/Power Systems - ETO & Solutions manufacturing location, improving supplier quality and performance by leading initiatives to ensure that company targets are met (quality metrics and measures, lean and quality expansion, capacity and service level improvements).

The position requires strategic thinking to help to create world-class supplier assessment and development procedures as well as the as the leadership and operational effectiveness to drive implementation. Works in close partnership with ETO Manufacturing, GSC CS&Q, Engineering, LoB and Supply chain in order to develop supplier management strategies and plans that maximizes quality, capacity, and service levels while simultaneously working on supplier development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership for supplier quality, supplier assessment, and development within the organization.
  • Take a lead in actively participating in the definition of Schneider Supplier Quality Management (SSQM) processes.
  • Understand the skills, knowledge, and talent required for success to lead the supplier approval process.
  • Drive and support Supplier delivery performance to achieve performance based on KPIs and business expectations.
  • In conjunction with the Customer Satisfaction and Quality department and peers develop and implement a supplier measurement scorecard that will effectively and reliably report supplier performance
  • Lead process in maintaining quality management system documentation.
  • Work with the category buyers, plants/factories support teams as well as others to ensure continuity of supply from suppliers are well developed and quality managed.
  • Undertake periodic Risk Analysis (Supplier Risk Assessment, Tooling register/Quality of tools: create and implement plans to address it
  • Ensure supplier capacity and capability adequately support operations material required and availability globally.
  • Deploy Lean Tools to meet and exceed targeted improvements in safety, quality, delivery, lead times, cost, and innovation in the supply base.
  • Use the appropriate tools and processes, including but may not be limited to the following:

Lean Techniques

Six Sigma Tools (DMAIC, DOE, Process Mapping, Gage R&R, Process Capability)
  • Support the selection, management, and development of the material supply base.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of effective supplier relationships to achieve company goals including achieving schedule, reducing material LT, improving quality, reliable delivery performance, and favorable pricing.
  • Review and audit supplier processes and identify improvements for tangible productivity gains.
  • Provide Lean and/or Six Sigma training or consulting to suppliers as applicable.
  • Ensure implementation of the supplier quality manual (SQM) across ETO supply base
  • Develop and maintain a standardized gated process designed to facilitate supplier onboarding focused on best-in-class quality, procurement flexibility, capacity, and implementation efficiency.
  • Improve the collection implementation and communication of supplier processes and technical capabilities across the SE corporation using web-based databases and SE supplier systems of intelligence.
  • Identify, document, and leverage supplier quality best practices across business groups and world areas.
  • Develop and Deliver material flow training, be able to drive and facilitate supplier quality workshops.
  • Participate in external consulting and benchmarking efforts to enhance ETO Supplier Quality
  • Develop supplier performance presentations to effectively communicate initiatives to suppliers, business units, category buyers, and PPMs.
  • Work with procurement and business stakeholders to identify, prioritize and resource supplier development projects focused on improving suppliers' processes using lean and Six Sigma
  • Help the business unit facilitate Supplier Development projects and develop future procurement quality engineers and supplier quality management engineers.
  • Provide regular report-outs to functional management, including current status and action plans for improvement.


Skills and attributes:

  • Proven of lean manufacturing experience in a small to medium-batch environment (both make-to-stock and make-to-order) as well as in a procurement environment including a track record of measurable improvement.
  • Degree/HND in a scientific or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in leading teams (direct, indirect), leadership skills/catalyst leadership
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality management systems, process auditing, Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving tools. Lean, Six Sigma, Quality Certifications, or MBA a plus
  • Supplier management and development experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively and successfully with cross-function teams/individuals.
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders including suppliers, customers, and other functional teams within the organization.
  • Project management skills - ability to work within a matrix management organization and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Tableau/Power BI etc)
  • Understanding of finance issues about manufacturing engineering (ie product costing, capital investment requirements etc)
  • Good team player with passion, customer focus, a demonstrated sense of urgency to resolve conflicts as they arise, & the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capabilities to innovate in our practices and drive transformations (transformative and disruptive mindset)
  • Ability to influence across all levels in an organization.
  • Strong relationship or support from Business Group Leaders
