As the Export Control and Sanctions Global Impact Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and sanctions. You will lead initiatives to assess and mitigate risks associated with export controls and sanctions, develop policies and procedures, and foster a culture of compliance across the organization. This role will serve as the subject matter expert on the risk and impact of US Export Control & Sanctions on global transactions and business activities where SE conducts business.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing and interpreting global export control laws and sanctions to ensure adherence.
  • Understanding the applicability and risk of US Export Control and Sanction to SE's global operations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to implement effective compliance strategies.
  • Providing training and guidance to employees on export control and sanctions requirements within the region and globally.
  • Monitoring changes in regulations and adjusting policies accordingly.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders, including government agencies and industry groups.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of international trade laws, and a proactive approach to compliance and complex problem solving. Excellent communication and project management skills, and critical problem solving are essential for success in this role.

The Sr. US Export Control and Sanctions Global Impact Manager will support both regional Americas and SE Global sites, functions and businesses impacted by the exterritorial reach of US Regulations.

What will you do?

  • Support and assist the company's global export control program as a member of the Global Export Control Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Create strategic, prioritized action plan to address gaps and opportunities in collaboration with senior management, regional stakeholders, and other regional export control leads, striving for global standardization of US Regulatory requirements.
  • Develop a targeted trade compliance training strategy for functional teams to enhance U.S. export control and sanctions competencies in operational business scenarios (samples, intangible exports, deemed exports technology transfers, etc.)
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, tax, and other functions as needed to make relevant trade compliance improvements and recommendations to protect global interests of Schneider Electric. This includes contract reviews/negotiations in both client and supplier facing dimensions.
  • Embed process compliance controls via systemic controls, policies, SOPs, training, data management, and automation where possible.
  • Manuals related to US export control and sanctions regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for automation/AI across the export control Center of Excellence.
  • Support SAP GTS as necessary to be optimally configured to manage screening for restricted parties and transactional business risk.
  • Ensure that global export control and sanctions policies, procedures, standards, processes, desk procedures etc. are documented, mapped, stored, and regularly reviewed to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Develop country-specific guidance to ensure compliant export operations aligned to US regulatory requirements. (exterritorial reach, primary and secondary sanctions risk)
  • Se rve as escalation point Global Export Control COE support, stakeholders, and functions.
  • Compile and assess relevant data to develop and monitor KPI's, create dashboards and reports for senior leadership.
  • Data analysis to forecast and solution potential export control risk

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required
  • Competent export control experience required, preferable in a multinational company
  • Must have at least 10-15 years of US export control and sanctions regulations experience, Export Classification experience with OFAC, BIS, NRC, DOE, ITAR
  • Experience with automated trade compliance - high volume screening solutions/tools
  • Experience in technology, software, or digital industries a plus
  • 25% travel domestically and internationally when required.
  • Demonstrated ability being a team player and influencing others.
  • Proficiency with MS office applications
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Pragmatic problem-solving abilities
  • Keen diplomatic instincts and customer service mentality (internal and external customer)
  • Ability to work independently, employ good judgment, act with integrity, take ownership, and seek advice when necessary.
