Electrical Switchgear Application Design Engineer

Location: Telford / Leeds / Hybrid home working

As an Electrical Switchgear Application Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing switchgear solutions for a range of industrial and commercial applications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop electrical schematics, select appropriate switchgear components, and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

Additionally, you will provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders, offering expertise in switchgear application design and troubleshooting.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical schematics and layouts for switchgear applications
  • Select and specify appropriate switchgear components based on project requirements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to support project execution
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders on switchgear applications
  • Participate in product development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in switchgear application design

About You:

  • ONC / HNC / Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related field (
  • Proven experience in switchgear application design and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and switchgear components
  • Familiarity with IEC and ENA industry standards
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
