We are hiring an Electrical Engineering Co-op to support Residential Energy Product Development within the Schneider Electric Prosumer NAM Hub Team in Richmond, BC, Canada. Must be available for 8 months minimum.

What will you do?
  • Support design throughout the engineering process from initial concept to final production release
  • Design electrical hardware through creation of single line diagrams, circuit diagrams, cable harnesses, and component selection.
  • Build prototypes, develop test plans, perform, and support electrical tests (EMI/EMC, DVT, board bring up), and analyze data to optimize the designs for performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Support PCB layout and collaborate with mechanical and firmware engineers to successfully develop and validate the design
  • Support the installation and maintenance of electrical prototypes
  • Support quality team for various reliability analyses (DMA, MTBF, THB, critical component)

What qualifications will make you successful?
  • Working towards an undergraduate degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering (2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students) with a preference for those with past product design experience
  • Foundational detailed design sense in support of PCBA layout in PADS and/or OrCAD (or similar tools)
  • Experience in electrical design for prototype and high-volume production
  • Familiarity with design for regulatory compliance (such as UL), as well as NEC, is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with AC Systems (Split phase 240V, 60Hz) and low voltage DC systems
  • Experience in BOM creation and DVT processes is preferred

  • Compensation: The base pay compensation for this full-time position is starting at CAD20.00 per hour for candidates who are B.C. residents. Schneider Electric also offers our employees on fixed-term employment holidays and paid time off.
