Job Description
The Electrical Design Engineer will work on and plan R&D projects for Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear and control-gear products. They will be part of the team in charge of driving the digital transformation initiative within Schneider Medium Voltage offers. S/he will be accountable for network architecture design, implementation of communications protocols (Modbus, Profibus, SCADA, etc.), design using human machine interface (HMI) and programable logic controllers (PLC). In this role S/he will represent the engineering team in communications with cross-functional organizations

What do you get to do in this position?

• Accountable for designing power electronic solutions, power devices and associated control and gate/base drive circuits
• Prepares sketches and/or electric schematic diagrams
• Works independently, exercises latitude and judgment to develop designs with minimal supervision

• Work in a diverse team environment, as well as independently
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience
• Mechanical Engineering degree or related engineering field with experience in electrical network design would be considered
• Experience of the development of electrical circuit and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of instrumentation, controls and modern protective relays
• Understanding of computer programming languages
• Assist in verification of design to performance requirements. This activity includes participation in test plan, results analysis, and the feedback of appropriate design parameters back into component/assembly design
• Interface with manufacturing organization to ensure that a well-optimized component/assembly is developed from fabrication/assembly concerns
• Develop electronic and hard copy records that conform to internal standards and support the development, implementation and maintenance stages of the projects/products. Examples include: updates to BOM's (part number, description, material, processes, where used), Component Drawings (geometry, functional dimensioning, process callout), and Project General Files
• Prepare instructional/operational information as required.
• Recommends changes or modifications as appropriate to meet manufacturability, functionality and measurability requirements.
• Prepares and oversees final layout, detail, assembly drawings, and other required documentation.
• Prepares and maintains schedule and budgetary estimates.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, which includes ability in writing technical documents.
• Self-starter, team player, multi-tasking with good time management skills and the ability to function across organizational boundaries.
• Provide support to manufacturing and quality organization on customer and production issues as necessary.
Schedule: Fulltime / Salaried
Travel: 10% travel required to perform UL testing at laboratories.
Special Skills or Other Requirements:
• Experience in CAD tools (ProE, Creo, Auto CAD)
• Creation and use of Fault Tree Analysis
• Creation and management of Design and Application FMEAs
• Understanding of Project Cycle Management
