Customer Engineer - Building Management Systems

Johannesburg, South Africa

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Technical Level

  • Building management and control systems configurations commissioning.
  • Leading the deployment of Building Automation Systems Integrations.
  • Engage and coordinate with commissioning specialists to ensure as-built project documentation.
  • Create and facilitate the maintenance of appropriate technical documentation.
  • Develop customer notifications when changes to the systems are made.
  • Plan and execute maintenance programs for the data centre environment for post installations SLA's.

Sales Level
  • Act as a technical consultant to customers to find optimal solutions for their needs.
  • Generate decisions on technical feasibility in coordination with customers, sales & marketing as well as specialists in Southern Africa
  • Consult with customers to create custom-fit solutions and act as technical advisor.
  • Become sales lead in proposals and strategies for Data Centre Power and Buildings automation opportunities, products and solutions.
  • Present entire system solutions as well as individual products to customers and consultants.
  • Plan and implement training and coaching for customers, consultants and sales teams.

Qualifications

Background & Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Alternatively, extensive industry experience will be considered in Building Automation/HVAC controls.
  • 7 or more years relevant experience, particularly in Data Centre environments or similar specialized and controlled environments.
  • Applicable work experience with software, and/or electronic engineering.
  • Software aptitude/awareness is important as solutions are configurable products . Any experience in programming, configuration software development would be beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of control systems, electrical/electronic systems protocols and methods.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Business travel required up to 50%.
  • Experience in Building Management Systems withing the Data Centre environment
  • Outgoing individual who can build relationships with customers, services, projects and consultants.
  • Capable of engaging in hands-on work that demands focus and attention to detail.
