Chief Accountant for Schneider Electric Czech Republic

We are looking for an experienced Accountant for our headquarters in Czech Republic!

Mission of the position:

The role of the Chief Accountant is ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of statutory, group and tax reporting in accordance with the applicable law and group procedures.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Manage and coordinate the work of the Accounting Team for 2 legal entities in Czech Republic
  • Cooperate with the Accounting Competency Centers (ACC) in the scope of maintaining the company accounting books for statutory and group purposes by controlling the services they provide and initiating corrective actions if necessary,
  • Manage and execute operational accounting processes, retained in the entity, in accordance with legal and tax regulations and prepare all legally required reports (statutory financial statements, tax reporting, statistical reporting, etc.),
  • Prepare group reporting in accordance with the group rules (IFRS) and a published reporting calendar,
  • Prepare and present the reports and analysis during regular review meetings (Balance sheet review meetings, financial review meetings),
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls applicable in the group in cooperation with the Internal Control Team,
  • Coordinate and support conducting of internal and external audits (including tax), maintain links with tax administration and other state institutions,
  • Review the company's contracts, agreements for tax risks purposes,
  • Arrange preparation of the Transfer Pricing documentation in a cooperation with the external consultants and Group Tax Manager,
  • Identify, assess and monitor the risks under the jurisdiction with relation to accounting and tax topics,
  • Proactively provide advice and support in the day-to-day operations of the accounting team to ensure that the work is done accurately and on time,
  • Cooperate with other teams and departments (Business Finance, Tax, Treasury, Billing etc.),
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis and reports due to the current need,
  • Actively participate in the implementation of group projects at the country level, as well as local projects, in particular resulting from legal requirements,
  • Support finance transformation and standardization initiatives.

Required knowledge and experience:
  • University degree in accounting or finance related area
  • 5 years of work experience in the same or similar position as head accountant
  • Knowledge of accounting standards (local and IFRS)
  • Knowledge of local tax legislation
  • Working knowledge of SAP is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of English and fluent Czech
