For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $80,640- $120,960 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Application Engineer I is responsible for supporting the Engineering and sale of a wide range of custom Data Center Thermal Solutions and related cooling systems. The support provided includes the development of new products, pre-sale technical support, answering product application inquiries, and quality control. This role has a strong impact on the success of the Data Center Cooling Systems business and requires an engineering background with knowledge in thermodynamic, electrical, and industrial controls principles.
What will you do?
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and implement appropriate solutions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Participates in the design and engineering of new products utilizing phased or stage-gate scheduling techniques.
- Works with the production team on making product design changes to improve quality, productivity, or other operational objectives.
- Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems as they arise.
- Reviews and approves production drawings / specifications, adding recommendations to enhance design, reduce costs or increase production efficiency.
- Prepares all documentation necessary for production as well as customer support. (proposals, quotes, drawings, BOM, schematics, product selections, manuals, technical instructions, etc.).
- Works with suppliers and outside engineering consultants to resolve technical and supply issues, improve system features and capabilities; investigates sources of special equipment, material, or devices. Obtains quotes, prepares requisitions and qualifies supplier components.
- Able to assist in multiple ongoing projects and meet project task deadlines as assigned by Sales, Operations, and Management.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate wiring diagrams, program logic, and electrical schematics.
- Execute proper root cause and corrective action methodology.

- May require navigating stairs and maneuvering through the plant environment for guided tours.
- Travel is required on a regular basis to perform this role.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
- 0-5 years of position related experience
- Experience at sizing and design of fans, condenser coils, evaporator, heat exchanger and other refrigeration components using simulation tools.
- Knowledge of specifications, codes, and standards used in commercial HVAC and Data Center industries such as ASME, UL, ETL, IEC/NEC, NFPA, etc.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical components, piping systems, pumps, motors, controls, or other industrial equipment.
- Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred .
- Data Center/HPC Deployment experience preferred .
