Application Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Create project technical documents required by the project scope of work and inputs documents timely as per project schedule required by customer and agreed with SE Project Manager.
  • Identify and mitigate any grey areas between customer specifications, project requirements versus SE offer / deviations.
  • Perform efficient engineering utilizing knowledge / experience with active team work utilizing the design team strength / lessons learnt from previous projects.
  • Create engineering plan for each project, manage the engineering efforts as per allocated man-hours and team to execute all the design activities in consultation with the Project Manager.
  • Discuss and finalize along with project manager the list and schedule of design activities for the projects allocated.
  • Provide technical clarifications and reply to customer during the Design submission/approval stage and perform necessary actions to obtain document approval.
  • Coordinate with SE back-office / factory in cases where the design and / or drawings are provided by back office / factory to satisfy the project technical requirements and ensure no gaps between customer requirement and back office deliverables, also coordination for manufacturing clearance and clarifications to back office to be managed.
  • Provide the bill of material to project manager for ordering materials and technical coordination in case of bought out items.
  • Support SR team during site commissioning by providing all project technical documents and explain design aspects, agreement sand approvals with customer, provide design solutions for site issues concerning design.
  • Provide innovative solutions to technical issues on a case-by-case basis for projects under execution and offer stage.
  • Support to verify the material details from tender and / or back office for spare parts supply business if requested by project manager.
  • Embrace new technologies and learn SE products as required by the projects awarded to SE or as required by the organization from time to time. .
  • Focus on efficient utilization of drafting resource both in house and third party.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors for any tasks off loaded like drawing preparation, fabrication of panels etc.
  • Should be able to perform engineering for arc flash protection, asset connect using SE products.
  • Ensure engineering documents for project are submitted with required quality as per plan and project requirement.
  • Support Tendering team for technical clarifications in modernization projects if requested by tender.
  • Carry out system studies using ETAP software - short circuit, load flow and relay coordination.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree a in Electrical Engineering.
  • Design knowledge for creation of MV and LV switchgear drawings, protection panels in addition to product knowledge of breakers, CT, VT and other components. Design calculation proven
    experience is must - CT/VT calculation, relay settings calculation etc.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in MV or LV switchgear OEM engineering.
  • English Fluency is a must.
  • Willing to dedicate 10 -20% of work time in customer premises for meetings and workshops, SE factory for inspection, travel within Gulf countries if required for meetings with customers.
