We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Ocular gene therapy group in the Genomic Medicine Unit. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to drive therapeutic candidates from discovery into IND enabling studies for Ocular indications.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, strategize and execute research studies to develop gene therapy candidates for ocular indications.

  • Apply scientific expertise to design, develop assays and execute experiments in support of research project goals and deadlines.
  • Characterize ocular rodent models and conduct in vivo efficacy studies to generate proof of concept.
  • Manage CRO's and work with internal collaborators to drive therapeutic programs.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of teamwork and collaboration.

  • About you

    Qualifications:
    • PhD plus minimum 4+ years of relevant ocular research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting.
    • Demonstrated experience in ocular diseases and experience with animal models of ocular disease.
    • Knowledgeable in designing and conducting cell-based assays and ocular in-vivo studies.
    • Experience with measuring OCT & ERG in animal models preferred.
    • Background / experience in AAV gene therapy preferred.
    • Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in the field of Ocular diseases and/or gene therapy.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.
    • Ability to be flexible and pivot with changing deadlines and priority of projects.
    • Experience in preparing high quality documents including technical reports, presentations, SOPs, and experimental protocols.
