Sanofi Oncology Therapeutic Area is seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise in cell-based assays, formulation, and drug delivery for an individual contributor laboratory-based role.The ideal candidate must have successfully demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific innovation, independent thinking, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and cross-functional environment. The position resides within the Immuno-Oncology Cell Therapies Cluster in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive cutting-edge technology and scientific advancements that ultimately serve patients with novel immunotherapy drugs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support multiple therapeutic programs by working closely with project head(s) to plan and execute key experiments ranging from cellular assays to formulations
  • Isolation, phenotypic and functional characterization of primary human and mouse cells
  • Design, develop and execute in vitro cell based assays (DDS potency assays, cytokine release, proliferation, activation, cell killing etc.)
  • Formulation of various drug delivery systems (DDS) such as lipid-based nanoparticles, polymeric particles or nanogels
  • Characterization of biomaterials (e.g., loading and encapsulation efficiency, size and charge evaluation)
  • Analyze and interpret data and draw conclusions to help decide next steps
  • Document all protocols, experimental data and results in electronic notebook with accuracy and timeliness
  • Present data and conclusions in regular group and larger cluster meetings
  • Contribute to daily laboratory activities (including procurement and organization)
  • Work in BSL2 environment
  • Prepare publications, research, and clinical/regulatory documentation in accordance with the Sanofi quality standards

About You

Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering or a related field in the life sciences with 1-2 years relevant research experience in industry or academia

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of pre-formulation, formulation, and aspects of drug delivery
  • Working knowledge of cellular biology/immunology
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the biotech/pharma industry
  • Lead authorship or co-authorship of peer-reviewed publications, patents and presentations
