The Infectious Diseases & Vaccines (IDV) group is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and collaborates with leading academic groups worldwide on a wide variety of infectious disease projects including syphilis, malaria, HIV, influenza, and antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. The team is also involved in antibody discovery and vaccine characterisation projects internally with Sanofi Vaccines.

This is an opportunity to join the Infectious Diseases & Vaccines (IDV) team which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and collaborates with leading academic groups worldwide on a wide variety of infectious disease projects including malaria, RSV, influenza, COVID-19 and antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. The purpose of the role is to deliver Project and Programme Management for the IDV team, administration of the BMGF grant, and operational support to the IDV team.

Main responsibilities:
  • Generate project plans, timelines and resource plans to meet scientific needs defined by stakeholders.
  • Drive project timelines based on an understanding of overall company and team goals, prioritisation, and possible resource constraints.
  • Challenge functions to stay within timeline expectations, and provide an optimal environment for achievement of timelines.
  • Organise Project Team and Sub-team meetings and ensure discussions, decisions and actions are captured accurately and in a timely way.
  • Follow up on open actions to drive to completion.
  • Carry out after-action reviews and lesson learned sessions where appropriate.
  • Coordinate activities between different project stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Build and track budgets, report to relevant stakeholders, highlight risks, escalate variances for resolution.
  • Support reporting requirements internally and externally.
  • Ensure the application of good knowledge management practices through the organisation of information and ensuring that team members are aware of the location of key documents.

About you:

Education: Science degree with 3-5 years proven track record experience of working in a Research or Development environment essential.

Skills:
  • Knowledge of drug discovery or development, and an understanding of the overall pharma environment essential.
  • Established track record in Project Management field.
  • Experience with budget process.
  • Expertise in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Office 365 suite and Zoom.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work transversally, with strong track record in building & maintaining relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesise complex information and distil key messages to cascade to stakeholders.
