This is achieved by offering programs that provide reimbursement and logistics support, financial assistance, and patient education and support. In addition to the program offerings, the PSS organization is also home to field teams that provide education and support to patients and customers.

Across the Rare Disease therapeutic area our 'one team, common goals, single mission' new go-to-market (GTM) approach is leading the way. The majority of the current Rare Disease program strategy, value, and impact is in the leadership and development HQ-based Case Management team and our field-based Patient Education Liaison team.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as the Rare Disease, Head of PSS. This role is crucial in developing and implementing cross-brand strategies, managing a diverse portfolio of products and effective teams, and liaising with the therapeutic area General Manager and leadership team. Ultimately, creating leadership, process, and a culture of excellence around both account and patient rare disease engagement.

Building national strategic, leadership and executional expertise for 7 brands, 5 therapeutic areas and ensuring patient solutions and regional and account strategy supports effective rare disease activation and access from regions to health systems and accounts, to individual patients and care givers.

Ensuring the team has best-in-industry knowledge, capabilities, and synthesizes market conditions that impact the patient journey (i.e. payer, government, Pharma, industry, access), understanding of rare competitive products, and the patient perspective. Driving all patient related insights into leadership, account, launch, and strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Patient Services, creating and leading PSS programs, strategic and operational initiatives, strong organizational leadership experience, and excellence in developing teams, talent, and future leaders. Reporting to the Head of PSS, the Head of PSS Rare Diseases will be a critical member of the PSS LT.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Set the vision and lead the Rare Disease PSS teams to achieve best possible patient and care giver experience, leading to the strategic and operational objectives for assigned brands.
    • Develop and implement cross-brand strategies to support the commercial goals in PSS for the associated brands/therapeutic areas.
    • Provide coaching and professional development to Directors and team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and patient focus.
    • Influence and help develop future Sanofi PSS enterprise vision and capabilities.
  • Portfolio Management:
    • Manage a diverse portfolio of rare disease products.
    • Ensure effective management and continuous improvement of patient support programs, leadership, and professionals to meet market needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Liaise with therapeutic area General Managers and their teams to align on strategic initiatives and ensure coordinated efforts across brands.
    • Work closely with other cross-functional Patient Services and Sanofi teams to support the implementation of patient support strategies.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Monitor and measure customer feedback, internal performance data, and market trends to optimize program effectiveness.
    • Develop innovative solutions to address key business challenges, leveraging best practices in patient and provider services.
    • Monitor and measure customer feedback, internal performance data, and market needs to continuously improve services.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations, maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.
  • Director Engagement:
    • Lead and mentor a team managing field teams, patient engagement teams and internal program hub teams.
    • Foster strong working relationships and ensure alignment on strategic priorities and operational goals.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage the annual budget for the High-touch and Patient Focused Affordability Programs team.
    • Ensure optimal allocation of resources to support program initiatives and drive business results.

About You

Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree required
  • 10 years or more experience in patient support services within the pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare sector
  • 5 years in a leadership role

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (MBA or advanced clinical degree) preferred.
  • Proven track record in leading strategy and operations for patient support programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Experience with the commercialization of both infused therapies and products under buy & bill or medical benefits as well as pharmacy benefit products
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including building strong working relationships and managing conflict.
  • Demonstrates initiative, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change in a high-energy and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of FDA and OIG regulations.

Travel Requirements:
  • Up to 30% travel may be required.
