The Project Engineer Electrical & Controls is responsible for providing project management, engineering, and technical support of facilities and manufacturing operations with a focus on automation, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and Process Control Systems including DCS systems, SCADA systems, and open / closed loop control systems. They will be a key member of the project engineering team, direct the activities of contractors, support the greater technical team, and advise site-wide decisions on data integrity and controls systems. The Project Engineer Electrical & Controls will contribute towards site goals, objectives, strategies, and measures as they relate to capital, reliability, plant capability, cost, sustainability, and waste reduction.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of project engineering, including design, procurement, construction management, installation, and qualification.
  • Develop budgets, complex schedules, and coordinate resources to ensure project scope, schedule, and cash flow adherence.
  • Serve as the site SME for computerized equipment qualification, focusing on 21 CFR Part 11 compliance and Data Integrity.
  • Drive key engineering metrics and KPIs, including Budget Adherence %, Cash Flow Adherence %, and Project Approval rates.
  • Champion the Early Equipment Management (EEM) program, focusing on equipment optimization, maintenance, and startup management.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to enhance packaging and processing equipment, particularly with Allen Bradley or Siemens control systems.
  • Promote a zero-incident safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA, GMP, and FDA regulations while providing leadership to improve technical functions.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical)
  • 5+ years of project management experience in process design, manufacturing, and contractor supervision.
  • Expertise in automated production equipment, including robotics, PLC, DCS, SCADA, and control systems integration.
  • Proficient in reading and troubleshooting electrical schematics and ladder logic.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute complex projects valued over $1MM.
  • Skilled in technical writing, including Work Instructions, SOPs, and OPLs.
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks) and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Preferred experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing, including knowledge of site utilities (chillers, boilers) and IT networking skills.
