Purification Process Development (part of Sanofi R&D and Global CMC Development) is responsible for development, scale-up, transfer, and characterization of purification processes for clinical and commercial manufacturing of therapeutic proteins from the mammalian production platform. In addition, the department develops next-generation bioprocessing and process development technologies such as integrated and continuous bioprocessing, high throughput process development, and mechanistic modeling of bioprocesses. The department also works to support a global purification network and update our purification platform.

The Principal Research Associate will join a dynamic and motivated team to develop downstream purification processes in support of early and late-stage drug development programs. In addition, the Principal Research Associate will support the tech transfer of the developed processes, while ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance are maintained in the workplace.
- Independently plan and execute process and technology development experiments using high throughput purification models and benchtop and/or pilot scale chromatography and filtration systems
- Develop areas of specific technical expertise and apply knowledge across projects
- Develop novel hypotheses to solve complex technical problems and meet project team objectives
- Represent department in cross-functional interactions
- Prepare internal technical reports and present project outcomes and/or technology advancements internally; may present externally at industry conferences
About You
- Earned Masters degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related field with 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4 or more years of relevant experience
- Relevant laboratory experience, in either an academic or industrial setting is preferred
- An understanding of scientific principles underlying purification technologies and operations
- Experience with statistical analysis and modeling
- Excellent planning, organization, and written and oral communication skills
- High level of scientific curiosity
- Logical and critical thinking skills, innovative problem-solving
- Ability to work independently and also in a collaborative team environment
