Join our dynamic, interdisciplinary team at Sanofi Germany (Frankfurt) in the Integrated Drug Discovery department. Currently setting up an integrated platform enabling seamless execution of complete Design-Make-Test-Analyze (DMTA) cycles in pharma research, we operate at the cutting edge of innovation, leveraging robotics and artificial intelligence to accelerate compound discovery and optimization.

We are looking for a highly motivated engineer to play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our automated research lab infrastructure. Collaborating closely with scientists, data analysts, and technicians, you will ensure the smooth operation of robotic platforms. Optimization of existing automation workflows, integration of new devices and adaptation of automation protocols as well as developing novel solutions is part of your assignment. Your technical expertise, communication skills, and the ability to work independently will contribute to the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of our drug discovery processes.

In this role you will contribute to the discovery of novel molecules with state-of the art technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) tools and robotic workflows, eventually delivering valuable high-quality synthetic drugs to improve the lives of patients.

Main responsibilities:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot robotic systems of our automated laboratory platform, ensuring optimal performance and operation time
  • Implementation, documentation, and continuous improvement of workflows in the integrated laboratory with enthusiasm for details and the latest tools and technologies.
  • Develop and deploy protocols for chemical synthesis, purification, and biological characterization within integrated DMTA cycles.
  • Devise and conduct tests of automated processes, establish QA (Quality Assurance) and identify opportunities to increase efficiency
  • Monitor and calibrate automated instruments to meet quality standards
  • Guide the work of technicians, collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data streams and ensure efficiency

About you
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical, mechanical or process engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience in operating and maintaining robotic laboratory systems
  • Strong understanding of automation of workflows and optimization of processes
  • Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Familiarity with scripting languages
  • Basic understanding of the drug discovery process
  • Self-dependent and excelling in demanding, results-oriented settings
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills, willingness to integrate in teams
  • Fluency in English, German is a plus
