As the Head of the Translational Science Hub, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the TSH project deliverables in alignment with Global Translational Medicine for Vaccines strategy and Global R&D imperatives. You will serve as the local manager and central administrator for the TSH. Specific areas of responsibility include development of TSH strategy, stakeholder engagement, design and execution of translational studies, oversight of university collaborations, financial management and resource allocation, general administration, TSH proposal preparation. You will be a member of the TSH Steering Committee and will be engaging with government and university stakeholders as part of the TSH agreement.

Main responsibilities:
  • Developing and executing TSH strategy and coordination of TSH activities
  • Delivery of translational studies and clinical research undertaken at the TSH
  • Providing essential knowledge and experience-based translational, medical and scientific guidance to accomplish early product development to help fulfill R&D mission of developing innovative and transformative vaccines.
  • He/she will also be responsible for the coordination and management of physician scientists & translational scientists, project leaders and management and biostatisticians at the TSH.
  • Management of TSH employees located at the site
  • Accountability for driving activities relating to the Australian biomedical ecosystem development
  • Leading local engagement strategy and strengthening collaborations
  • Authorised Officer and Sanofi representative on State Government Steering Committee
  • Supporting the Global Head Clinical Franchise - Translational Medicine in delivering the translational medicine strategy across the R&D portfolio
  • Represent the Company within the scientific and medical research community through involvement in international scientific meetings and through professional publications.
  • Identification of relevant partnerships and business development opportunities as required
  • Ensuring the development of a robust project plan to deliver the activities of the Hub and identifying critical path activities
  • Ensure alignment of budget and resource estimation needs with TSH and enables decision making for resource balancing within the TSH and global R&D

Interactions

As the The Head of TSH you will work in close partnership with the Global Head Clinical Franchise - Translational Medicine to lead the TSH in alignment with the R&D imperatives. You will also work closely with the External R&D team for partnership related activities with the Asia Pacific Regional Head of External R&D as a key contact. You will also work closely with Global Immunology leaders, Clinical Development Leadership team, particularly H/o Biostatistics, H/o Data Management, H/o Clinical Study Management to deliver translational and clinical research. Will engage with leadership at the mRNA CoE and other Global R&D functions as required and will have significant external facing interaction representing the TSH with funding partners, state and federal government, local industry, academic institutions and industry bodies, as well as the management team at the Translational Research Institute.

About you
  • M.D. or Ph.D. in related field or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years in leadership role with relevant industry/academic experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in clinical research setting preferably in the area of vaccinology/ immunology/infectious diseases.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in leading teams
  • Strong strategic planning and managerial skills.
  • Proven excellent communications skills through publications and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to perform well (as measured by ensuring "quality deliverables" prioritising and efficiently managing multiple tasks frequently challenged with short timelines across multiple clinical projects).
  • Demonstrated ability of internal and external stakeholder management through establishment of collaborations or securing internal or external funding
  • Proven ability to work cross-culturally, is essential

Certifications
  • PhD or MD, Completion of an approved residency training program in a related field or equivalent is preferred
