The Head of North America Events oversees a centralized team who will manage event strategy, planning and execution, as well as Scientific External Expert engagements for the USA and Canada, as well as projects and processes associated with delivering them. She/He will supervise all events and engagements within her/his scope of responsibility, including congresses and conventions, internal sales meetings, standalone meetings or webinars, advisory board meetings, and speaker training meetings for healthcare providers, as well as large-scale internal meetings. This role reports to the Global Head of Meetings & Events (GM&E).

The Head of North America Events must have a proven ability to capitalize on their own knowledge and experience in compliance, ethics, and legal matters to support the company's goals within Sanofi's systems and operating environments. This is a leadership role that will optimize event strategy within the goals and constraints of the company's environment, and translate the team's vision into a course of action, creating transversal networks for best-in-class implementation.

The role requires the capacity to assess risks when faced with uncertain and rapidly changing conditions, making decisions supported by strategy and experience, and finding resources to resolve issues in an efficient and business-appropriate manner. Effective communication is a must, as this role is an ambassador for the company's Play to Win strategy and part of a globally centralized team.

  • Build a strong team and capitalize on their knowledge to act as a strategic business partner for events and engagements for their assigned scope. Support internal stakeholders with key information, stay up to date on global industry trends and regulations, and incorporate them into the business strategy for events.
  • Deliver the best end-to-end experience for internal and external stakeholders through event planning, implementation, and tracking, as well as SEE engagements related to those events.
  • Accelerate efforts to align operations to One Sanofi in terms of platform, talent, impact, and experience, managing change and inspiring action.
  • Plan for effective resource deployment and delegation of activities, ensuring consistent performance withing budget limits. Strive for cost effectiveness across event types and geographies. Actively contribute to finding synergies.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with peers and stakeholders, leading event transformation initiatives to completion, by driving prioritization methodologies, global policy alignment, vendor evaluations and digital innovation.
  • Develop networks and promote visibility of all team members, set clear expectations for results and foster growth through transparent communication in all directions.
  • Become a key driver of innovation and agile ways of working. Represent the team across disciplines and functions, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure vendors and partners consistently meet or exceed obligations, perform continuing evaluation of services and processes.
  • Provide metrics and dashboards on relevant markers of event management success, as well as those related to transparency and compliance where required in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and implement event planning training programs for internal and external audiences.
  • Manage complex projects and drive execution of ambitious goals for events in Sanofi.

About you
  • Experience: Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, digital solutions.
  • Soft skills: Strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels. Ability to influence, collaborate, negotiate, and deliver solutions in a complex environment. Innovative mindset, change management. Able to adapt to changing business priorities. High attention to detail, capable of asking insightful questions. Accountability and sense of urgency, able to find flexible solutions on the spot when challenges arise.
  • Technical skills: Events and engagements expertise. Deep understanding of processes related to event planning, maximizing engagement while maintaining compliance. Financial acumen as it relates to budget management and spend analysis. Digital literacy as it relates to the creation and presentation of dashboards, integration of system interfaces and troubleshooting software limitations on the field. Superior organizational and adaptability skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Languages: Advanced-level English is essential, additional languages are an advantage.
