Position Title: Field Medical Director

About the Job
The Field Medical Director, Immunology, will be responsible for working with the MSL managers to develop tactical plans for scientific engagement and insights generation across their teams, and aligning the Immunology MSL teams to the country medical plans.
The Field Medical Director will monitor progress in achieving established KPIs and will oversee the capability, talent development and operations of all the Immunology MSL teams.

Main Responsibilities:
Lead and implement overall strategy of MSL Organization
- Ensure MSL management and MSL team performance goals are set and met through monitoring and reporting metrics, budgets etc.
- Lead/co-create Medical plans with medical advisors/ MSL managers and ensure MSL team activities align to global and local medical priorities while leveraging available MSL planning tools and strategic medical content
- Ensure appropriate MSL annual planning process including objectives and KPI setting
- Build and maintain processes that monitor metrics, resources and budgets to allow for course correction (if needed) and for sharing best practices to ensure the MSL teams outcomes further the overall brand goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize cross-functional opportunities and efficiencies
- Enhance operational efficiencies to ensure balance of internal vs external and multi-channel vs omnichannel engagement strategies are implemented
- Identify and support MSL managers on opportunities for innovation and field excellence initiatives to difference Sanofi medical and improve efficiencies and digital competencies
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
- Proactively communicates issues and effectively negotiates with cross-functional teams to arrive at optimal solutions.
Ensure Medical Insights contribute to evolution of strategy
- Lead internal collaboration centered around insights generation activities and ensure data, facts and observations are gathered, reviewed and analyzed to be identified as insights and incorporated into strategic decision making
- Lead the development of insight generation plans for field based medical within the medical country plan.
Coaching and development
- Demonstrate value for the business and customers via coaching, developing and leading the MSL Management team around scientific engagement, insights, internal collaboration
- Regularly monitor key MSL/KOL relationships via MSL Manager coaching sessions and field visits to ensure quality engagements ensuring aligned scientific information exchange with the KOLs.
- Support MSL managers in guiding and prioritizing talent engagement and retention strategies including individual and team career & development plans (clinical, technical and leadership skills).
- Ensure MSL organization talent engagement and that development plans are in place
About You
Education
- MSc (PhD, PharmD, MD an asset)
Experience
- 10+ years of Medical Affairs experience
- Strong knowledge of immunology therapeutic area
- Prior MSL and field team management experience
- Ability to effectively participate in cross-functional teams to set and meet business goals and objectives.
- Ability to map out and implement a strategic vision to take teams from a current to future state
Specific skills and/or competencies
- Strong leadership skills and ability to instill positive culture across teams.
- Deep understanding of compliance and local regulations as they apply to non-promotional activities.
- High degree of knowledge of healthcare systems, evolving medical landscape, industry trends, regulatory and payer environment to accurately identify key issues and develop strategies to address.
