Job Summary
RN Care Manager, Occupational Medicine will provide health leadership, coordination of services, and the implementation of best practices to support the overall goals of the Occupational Medicine On-site Nurse program. RN Care Manager, Occupational Medicine will be supported directly by the Sanford Occupational Medicine Center and will utilize the professional resources (including physicians in a variety of specialty areas and medically credentialed staff) within Sanford to meet program needs at a specific worksite location. Worksite location may vary depending on program needs. The RN Care Manager, Occupational Medicine, will provide comprehensive services and support that include, but are not limited to: first aid, medical response, management of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, medical surveillance as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), training and education, COVID-19 program management, health and wellness initiatives, injury prevention services, and other services supported by Sanford Occupational Medicine.
The RN, Care Manager, Occupational Medicine will provide first aid and treatment within scope for injuries incurred at the facility, including assessing the need for outside medical treatment. Implement care plans and monitor patient conditions, coordinating treatment with appropriate medical facilities or consulting with the Sanford Occupational Medicine Medical Director as necessary. Duties may include administering conservative medical treatments such as heat, ice, and range of motion exercises, as directed by medical directives and the Occupational Health physician. Additionally, manage the procurement and stocking of medical supplies for the medical/health service station and coordinate data tracking and generate monthly trending reports for dissemination to appropriate parties.
This individual will coordinate early intervention and return-to-work activities at the worksite. Ensure employees returning to work can perform essential job functions and, if needed, coordinate functional capacity evaluations. Monitor the progress of employees on Workers' Compensation, disability, medical leave, and FMLA. Develop and maintain essential job function documentation for ADA compliance, including providing complete and appropriate documentation of patient care/consultation within the company's tracking systems and Sanford Occupational Medicine's EMR system. Serve as a liaison between relevant company directors and employees, ensuring pertinent information is distributed to the right people in a timely and appropriate manner.
RN, Care Manager, On-site will demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and knowledge, utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards as designated by the assigned company location. Function within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure. Adhere to the Sanford Professional Nursing Practice, which recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, as published by the American Nurses Association, as the foundation for nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
Will oversee medical surveillance as required by OSHA and as mutually agreed upon by Sanford and the client to enhance safety surveillance programs. Responsibilities include obtaining and reviewing physician reports, acting as a resource to the Safety and Human Resources departments in all medical matters, and coordinating Baseline and Annual Audiometric Testing and Job Function testing. Additionally, develop and implement in-service training programs for injury prevention and care, as well as other relevant training (e.g., heat stress, bloodborne pathogens). Coordinate health promotion presentations as requested and manage on-site coordination of First Responder/Emergency Response training, including AED/CPR and bloodborne pathogens. Provide education on personal protective equipment (PPE) and OSHA inspections, if needed.
Other duties include coordinating and administering health and wellness initiatives, including vaccinations (e.g., annual flu shots, Tetanus/Tdap, and Hepatitis B). Oversee biometric screening programs, including blood pressure, lipid profile, and blood sugar screenings (not covered by testing supplies). Participate in the development of written medical, health, and wellness programs. Provide Injury Prevention Services, including developing and implementing processes to measure and evaluate employee absenteeism and turnover.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care, and a working knowledge of administrative and management techniques.
Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience in a clinic care setting preferred. In-depth knowledge of specialty area preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required and must be obtained within six months of employment.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
