The Secure Embedded Systems department (5327) is seeking a motivated firmware or embedded software engineer to support large multi-disciplinary programs critical to national security. The successful candidate will support the design, development, test, and deployment of novel FPGA and embedded software solutions. The successful candidate will have a background and understanding of embedded software and systems, FPGAs, and firmware, and a readiness to apply this understanding to a variety of hardware systems.
You will work alongside world-class authorities and emerging leaders and use your skills in the following areas:
- Embedded software
- FPGA Firmware
- Verification & validation techniques
- Real-time data processing
- Object-oriented software frameworks and architecture development
- Networked and distributed architectures
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$109,300 - $217,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- An advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or relevant STEM field with 1 year of relevant experience;
- -or- a Bachelor's degree in STEM fields with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Your background must include one or more of the following:
- Experience developing and deploying embedded software
- Experience targeting embedded processors in FPGAs
- Experience with embedded OS (Ubuntu, GreenHills, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability using revisions control and bug tracking tools (Jira, Gitlab, Git)
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:
- Demonstrated experience with C++ and Python
- Familiarity with guidance, navigation, and control algorithms
- Experience in logic verification, preferably System Verilog/UVM
- Experience with FPGA design tools (Xilinx Vivado, SynplifyPro, etc)
- Experience with firmware DSP implementation
- Experience in taking an FPGA design to hardware and/or ASIC and utilizing the full array of debugging tools (embedded and bench logic analyzer, O-scope, etc.)
- Testing and debugging software systems
- Experience with large, distributed command, control, and data processing systems
- Experience developing test plans to verify and validate high rigor designs
- Excellent teaming and communication skills
- Interest in leading multidisciplinary technical teams
- An Active DOE Q security clearance.
- The ability to be granted a SCI clearance, which generally requires a polygraph.
About Our Team:
The Trusted & Secure Systems department (Organization 5327) focuses on the development of secure and aware command, control, and communications functions for terrestrial, airborne, and space-based systems that are critical for national security applications. Representative system components include those necessary for protection of high value assets, various point-to-point, static and dynamic C2 architectures, and situational analyses requiring compact operating systems and processing. The development and integration of resilience, confidentiality, integrity, and availability is necessary for high reliability systems critical for national security missions.
